Mio switches to Navman software for "MORE" family of AIOs

Posted by Paul in the NaviBlog : "Mio had something very interesting to show at the Pepcom pre-CES event. They will be announcing at CES the new MORE series of PNDs. These two units don't have model numbers yet, but they have new software designed by the engineers from their Navman acquisition. No more iGo. According to their reps they felt they needed to simplify the software to make it more user
friendly. They will have text to speech and TMC free for a year. Pricing should be in the $200/250 range. More info after the press announcement at the show tomorrow. "

More pictures from Paul posted today :

IntelligentDigitalCompass

"I think this was one of the most clever devices in the show. It is simply a
"compass" that follows where you move and will then point the way back.
Just follow the arrow to retrace your steps. It is small and will easily
fit on your key ring. It is in the final design stages and should be on the
market in a couple of months.
I think this is an important device because it is putting GPS technology to
use in a simple, no hassle, no brainer sort of way. It sort of points the
way to using GPS in simple ways that can improve our lives."

A friendly face from Deluo, Facundo himself !

"The Deluo booth is moving upscale every year and this year is in the
automotive hall with the big guys. It is nice to see them doing so well.
They tell me that the laptop niche they have carved out for themselves is
doing very well and that their "Mouse GPS" has been a huge success."

Yes the are, didn't you click on the link above -> http://www.flickr.com/photos/gpspassion/2176734935/in/set-72157603656990814/ ;-)

You might want to list out specific questions, but tradeshows are generally not a good place to run down a list of issues, this is better done in writing.

No 3D views of the Dash available yet. Not even in their press kit. The Dash doesn't use RSS feeds, but goes to various search engines to find your POIs. There aren't any "future features" yet because they are still in the process of completing the "present features".

Some new Transystem receivers :

"Transystem, the makers of the i-Blue series of GPS units was showing some
new stuff. On the left is their i-Tracker that uses the MTK chipset, quad
band GSM and an emergency button. In the center is the i-Blue 820 which is
only 10 mm thick. The 830 on the right has a solar panel. They also
mentioned their 880 which is still in development. It will use a new MTK
chipset, the 3329, and will have a -163dBm sensitivity and 66 channels."
