What kind of modification have you done in the apps folder? Do you mind sharing your files?
Here is the link of all i have put in my GPS.
Some things only work in Mio GPS but you can make changes if you want.

I followed your instructions but it doesn't work. I changed Navigator.exe to MyNavigator.exe. Mio Navigator.exe and Softbutton run at startup but I can only see Softbutton with a blank screen. Navigator.exe is running in the background but it doesn't show. |

I have a great news for those who are interesting in ROM cooking. I have been able to extract full ROM image of Maestro 3225. I guess same method should work for all other 3XXX and 4XXX devices. If you succeed please share your experience on this forum.
1. Download the tool called DiskRW from here: http://buzzdev.net/read.php?64,34479 2. Put DiskRW.exe on SD card and execute it your magellan. The program requires at least these two DLLs to run: commctrl.dll & AYGSHELL.dll 3. Goto Read/Write Tab, choose SMFlash in Storage drop down list, type full file name (For example: \SDMMC Card\dump.bin) in output field or press "..." button to choose your image file location using GUI. ( I assume you have read this forum and made keyboard and file open dialog work, if not please start reading this thread from the first page) 4. Press read button. 5. After it finishes copy generated image to you PC. The file size of 3225 ROM is 17Mb. 6. Download dumprom utility from here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/dumprom.html 7. Execute: dumprom.exe -d FOLDER_TO_EXTRACT_FILES dump.bin 8. The folder you have specified will contains all \Windows files of your device. In case of Magellan 3225 the folder size is 5Mb.
The next step I assume would be to replace some of the DLLs and add some missing files and cook new ROM image which can be flashed with DiskRW utility. Any volunteers ?

I would like to work on adding tts to my 3200. Does anyone know where I can find the 3225 files to play with? The media.cfg has a path to "speech" files so it may just be as simple as making the 3200 think it a 3225 & using the 3225 files.

When i enter to the magellan navigator i don't find way to go back to the first menu... I have already try with softbuton but doesn't work wath can i do to solve this...
I was able to install this on my 4040 as well. The only way I have found to get back to the navigator.exe screen is to use softbutton to terminate mynavigator.exe and then exit out of softbutton. Not a real fix but I usually startup mynavigator.exe while on the road and then use this method when I'm done with the gps program. |

hi,
i can help with cooking
my site contains all tools needed - hpcmonex.net (old site was izemize.fw.hu/hpc.php if that's familiar)
i also wrote documents on the process, again available on my site
but you say it's only 5MB, you sure it is full OS image and not just xipkernel? |

Yes. I'm sure that ROM size is 5mb. Magellan did a great job to trim it. I have discovered two major parts there. First part starts at address 0x100000. Actually it starts at some other address , but there is some header at the above address which looks like TOC. I guess the first part is what you call xipkernel. I was able to extract the following set of files (In parenthesis I put my understanding of the purpose of each file):
filesys.exe nk.exe (OS kernel) BIBDrv.dll binfs.dll (BIN File System driver for the second part) coredll.dll (That's the file I like to replace) fsdmgr.dll mspart.dll (partition driver) default.fdf (default registry)
Second part starts at address 0x250000. It is in BINFS format as I understand. It contains 70 files. Some of them are windows files, some are Magellan proprietory. The total size of this partition is 3.9Mb:
AutoEvent.exe, device.exe, GetGPSInfo.exe, gwes.exe, LaunchOneByOne.exe, Ufn.exe, close.2bp, ok.2bp, stdsm.2bp, viewsm.2bp, stdsm.bmp, viewsm.bmp, SysCpl.cpl, USBFNswitch.cpl, initobj.dat, IVTLicConf.dat, audevman.dll, backlight.dll, battdrvr.dll, BTHUSB.dll, BTManager.dll, BTMgr.dll, BTNic.dll, BTWavSniff.dll, busenum.dll, ceddk.dll, commctrl.dll, d3dm_sedrv.dll, devmgr.dll, diskcache.dll, fatfsd.dll, fatutil.dll, IVT_BTserial.dll, IVT_USB.dll, IVT_WavBSF.dll, kbdmouse.dll, mmtimer.dll, ohci2.dll, ole32.dll, ONDisk.dll, pm.dll, PowerButton.dll, regenum.dll, rsaenh.dll, s3c2443_wavedev.dll, S3C2443DISP.dll, sc2443usbfn.dll, sdbus.dll, sdhc.dll, sdhc_sc2443.dll, sdmemory.dll, serial.dll, serial_smdk2443.dll, sqlcese30.sys.dll, toolhelp.dll, touch.dll, sbd.dll, usbdisk6.dll, usbmsc.dll, usbmsfn.dll, USBUpdate.dll, waveapi.dll, ceconfig.h, bttl.ini, initdb.ini, wince.nls, arial.ttf, tahoma.ttf, IVTSuccess.wav, LocalRing.wav
There is some sparse information at address 0x000000, but nothing special which can catch my attention. The rest of 17Mb space is filled with 0xFF.
Actually I have found your web site and downloaded some utilities, however I didn't spend much time playing with tools yet. Unfortunately the header does not exactly match with anything I've seen in documentations or on this forum. So I will gladly except any help.

quote: Another way to get winceimg.bin from Roadmate 3000T is to download official upgrade from Magellan: http://www.magellangps.com/assets/softwareupgrades/MRM3000T_311_Update.zip Inside the archive you will find setup.exe which is (self-extracting) yet another zip archive. Image file is located under Magellan_RoadMate_3_11\COPY_OS. There is no *.cks file there, however checksum can be found in USB00002.CMD file.
mmm.. How can i extract checksum *.cks from USB00002.CMD? I've tried opening it but without success.. |
