I'm still interested. Have mostly found ways around having to copy into the /windows folder, but would like to have that option at least. |

Hey all. I've seen really cool things on this thread and i can't wait to try it out on my Maestro 3210! One thing i was wondering about though (i didn' tsee it on this thread):
The 3225 has TTS...is it possible to add this feature on the 3210?

Although we can get around the problem that \Windows folder does not have space to put files in, over time while running different application on Magellan there will be some garbage accumulated in there. When this folder becomes 100% full, the device may not function correctly anymore unless hard reset, which clears the memory. That is why it would be nice to increase the capacity of \Windows folder. Another problem with small size of system folder is that many programs are distributed as CAB files and their installation requires some space in \Windows. If you read my post about “how to make CAB installer work in Magellan” (http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=102769&whichpage=4#696718) and done some experiments, you may already know what I’m talking about.
The reason why the size of \Windows folder is so small is that on Magellan 32XX there is only 256K of memory allocated for "Storage Memory". This memory is shared between Registry data and \Windows folder. In full version of WinCE the "Storage Memory" and "Program Memory" (where the programs are loaded during execution) can be adjusted via Control panel. Unfortunately I could not start the applet which does that on my Magellan 32XX. You can see the size of Storage & Program memory by running Resinfo.exe from any MioNav unlock package, which requires winsock.dll and ws2.dll from WinCE.
I have written small application which can increase the Storage Memory in expense of Program Memory. You can download source code and compiled (ARM) executable from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/91246312/SetSystemMemoryDivision.zip.html
If you run the executable without arguments it will increase "Storage Memory" to 4MB. If you like to specify different amount of memory to be used for Storage you can run the program with argument. Here is mortscript example to set 8MB of storage space:
Run ("\HDD\PATCH\Utils\SetSystemMemoryDivision.exe", "8").
But be careful, the total memory size on 32XX is just 64M. So don’t be too greedy and remember that the content you put in \Windows folder will be cleaned on hard reset.
Update: Since \Windows can fit more data now, I'm able to replace trimmed version of COREDLL.dll with full version. However it seems that application are still loading the old one! I will keep you updated

I have put my magellan 4040 working like the mio..But i have a problem ..
When i enter to the magellan navigator i don't find way to go back to the first menu... I have already try with softbuton but doesn't work wath can i do to solve this...

I have a Maestro 4000 and have found this thread very interesting. I've gotten the updated POI file as well as FileMan, RegEdit and player.exe all running nicely.
I have had it crash a couple of times while playing a video. I believe each time it's been while I had the GPS program running as well. |

You can find this software in the mio AIOs...
Make a backup of all the software that you have in the GPS.
And you need to make some modifications in the folder apps.

See if that doesn't work. Otherwise, I think you install the .cab version via turning on the activesync option in the hidden menu and then uploading that way. Unless of course you can install cabs via the filemanager by just double clicking on it.
How can I find the hidden menu to turn active sync on? I'm trying to install a .cab file with FileMan but I get this error "There is no application associated with 'xxx.arm'. Run the application first, then open this file from within the application." Can you help me?? |

It's not simple though, but it works.
I followed your instruction and copied all the files but I'm stuck on this part. How do I modify the registry? I used Regedit.exe but it didn't work. I downloaded MortScript 4.1 but I couldn't install it with Fileman. I also tried to install on my pc but it says activesync is not on. Can you please give me detail instructions? Thanks
