Sorry, I can find no such file. I did find another bin in HDD/USBTRANS though... its called MGGC3W04.bin not sure what it is, but other files in this folder for me include MGGC3W04_20060913.exe, mgnRemoveTmpFiles.exe, TNShell.exe, USB00001.DON, USB00002.DON, USB00003.DON, UNIT_ID.DAT and the wince bin. If there was such a file, i would imaging the remove tmp files app killed it. I have looked in the files for the 3100, 3250, 4040, 4250 (<--- GPS retailer) and dont remember seeing most of these files, so if you think one of these hold the key, let me know.

BTW has there been any luck finding the full maps for Ozie?

Another way to get winceimg.bin from Roadmate 3000T is to download official upgrade from Magellan:
http://www.magellangps.com/assets/softwareupgrades/MRM3000T_311_Update.zip
Inside the archive you will find setup.exe which is (self-extracting) yet another zip archive.
Image file is located under Magellan_RoadMate_3_11\COPY_OS. There is no *.cks file there, however checksum can be found in USB00002.CMD file.

Thanks for posting the link for the 311 update!! It kills me when they use different naming conventions for their updates.

Better yet, i just got my hands on a 6000t and its windows has a built in keyboard. for the 3000 i used jotkb. so maybe the 6000t would be a better one to et the bin off of?

Ok. Then just download update for 6000T using following link:
http://www.magellangps.com/assets/softwareupgrades/MRM6000T_122_Update.zip
winceimg.bin extracted from Magellan_RoadMate_1_22\COPY_HDD_OS is larger than the one from 3000T :)

Hey !

Like i say in other topics i m a french owner of maestro 3050 ! I ve upgrade it to 3100 update 2.18 mixed with my europe version to have my french map working !

I m bored to see i cant upgrape winceimg.bin file > 5mo, and i try to found a solution!

With miomap crack, i ve succeed to have a windows ce desktop with with a lot a program working (word, calc, media play, windows games, ...) but no activesync connexion are possible (the driver is installed but windows dont recognise it.

Ive copied windows ce system files to arrive at this but after a reinitialisation of my maestro i'm getting the same old problem : "error creating process" !

Here is a link of a file working on maestro 3050/3100 and maybe other :

http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=KEPORR4T

And copy the App directory to /hdd/app (renaming old one app2 or other) and script to /hdd/My Flash Disk/script it will works

After copy windows ce 5.0 systeme files to script directory and all program will works!

It s possible to edit files like .ini, .mscr to change the directoy

I think the last think i need to get igo working is gapi files installation

So i ll continu to work on it ! If u have other solution, tell me ! ^^

First, this is great news. I think this means that the 3100 software will recognize maps from other regions. I assume you have to set the “Region” from the setup, correct?

We have been able to do a lot of modifications to the 3100. Please read some of the other topics to see what has been done. Specifically you may want to read this topic:
http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=102368

Due to the limited space on the internal memory, my approach has been to put most of the modifications on the SD card. I’ve just put “SystemInformation” and “FileManagerCE” on the internal memory. Everything else works well from the SD card. I’m not sure if the 3050 can use a SD card, so that may be the reason for your approach.

If it can use a SD card, you can move the map files to the SD card to free up a lot of internal memory space. But it will be in \HDD and not in the \Windows partition.

Good luck,
Dave

I found very interesting thread on RoadMate 1200.
http://magellanboard.alpentourer-alpenpaesse.de/viewtopic.php?t=594&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15
It is in German language, so you have to use google to translate it:
http://translate.google.com/translate_t?langpair=de|en
Inside the thread you will find the link to download nice package:
http://rapidshare.com/files/74970118/MRM1200FSv1.zip.html
which includes: gapi, regedit, task manager, filemance, tcpmp and very nice startup menu.
I have tried using this package on Magellan Maestro 3225, everything works just fine.

an example reg file

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Loader]

But I cannot seem to get it to input right.

If someone can solve this and find a way to import it we can probally skip a few steps.

It's easy to do.
Download the latest MortScript:
http://www.sto-helit.de/downloads/mortscript/MortScript-4.1.zip
Then create a script with the following lines:
----------
RegWriteMultiString( "HKLM", "Loader", "SystemPath", Array( "\HDD\MYWindows", "\SDMMC Card\", etc. ) )
Reset
----------
I hope you know how to run it.

Some people wonder how to install cab files on Magellan 32xx.
Below you will find what needs to be done in order to make cab installer work on 3225. It will also make Open/Save dialog work in many application. For example you will be able to use File->Import/File->Export menu in RegEdit.exe

  • Download WinCE 5.0 system files. The link can be found on this forum. (Alternatively you can download evaluation version of WinCE 5.0 from Microsoft and build it yourself)

  • Put system files under \HDD\PATCH\Windows . The minimum set of files includes the following WinCE dlls:

    wceload.exe
    ceshell.dll
    commdlg.dll
    shcore.dll
    toolhelp.dll
    winsock.dll
    ws2.dll

  • Modify registry to add directory with windows files to search path:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Loader]
    SystemPath=multi_sz:\\HDD\\PATCH\\Windows

  • Add registry keys to associate CAB with wceload.exe.

  •
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.cab]
    @="cabfile"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\cabfile]
    @="CAB File"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\cabfile\DefaultIcon]
    @="\\HDD\PATCH\\Windows\\wceload.exe,-101"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\cabfile\Shell\Open\Command]
    @="\\HDD\PATCH\\Windows\\wceload.exe \"%1\""

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\Microsoft Application Installer]
    "fAskOptions"=dword:1
    "fAskDest"=dword:1
    "nDynamicDelete"=dword:0

  • Soft reboot the device

  • Now you can click on CAB file from FileManCE and it will work

The method Tested with 3225. It works. However some installation packages try placing data files and dlls into \Windows folder, which does not have enough space and it caused the installation to fail.
In order to increase \Windows folder use the little utility I have written:
http://rapidshare.com/files/91246312/SetSystemMemoryDivision.zip.html
When you run it without arguments it will increase free space to 4Gb in expense of you RAM.

In order to modify registry, I suggest using the latest MortScript 4.1 from http://www.sto-helit.de/ . You can import registry keys either by running regedit.exe in command line mode from the script or you can use mortscript commands to write the registry keys.

If some application do not start after installation there might be a chance to make them work with the following technique. As an example I will describe how to patch SpreadCE - which is very powerful Excel replacement. It can be downloaded from here:
http://byedesign2b.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/sce/spre2aen.zip

  • Rename coredll.dll -> coredl_.dll and put it into \HDD\PATCH\Windows

  • Using hex editor patch SpreadCE.exe file to replace COREDLL with COREDL_. It would force the executable to pick your version of coredll.dll, otherwise it always picks the one from ROM.

    In order to do hex editing, I suggest using this little utility:
    http://lilith.tec-man.com/binmay/. It's command line tool to do find and replace data in binary files. It's very handy, especially if you need to do same operation over and over again with many files.

    Here is the command line demonstrating the usage of the tool for patching SpreadCE.exe :

    binmay -i SpreadCE.exe -o SpreadCE_.exe -s "43 4F 52 45 44 4C 4C" -r "43 4F 52 45 44 4C 5F"

  • Run SpreadCE_.exe and enjoy.

    Hey guys, I've been using Tascal Soft's Registry Editor. It's free and can automatically associate .reg files with itself. Which then can be run from explorer. Check it out!!

    That's exactly the one, which is used by every one. It's included in any MioNav unlock package. However there is the latest one available to download from Tascal web site. But it does not work out of the box and needs to be patched, at least in order to run it on Magellan Maestro 32xx.

Anyone have any thoughts?

    You don't need to cook rom to increase space in \Windows folder. If anyone is still interested I can share the knowledge ?!
