@jaredr: Sorry, I reference the wrong file in the zip. You need to extract and use the toggle.ext program in the PocketPC 2002 folder.
I'd like to correct this my first post, but I can't edit my previos post. |

To JohnCougar: Thanks for your quick response, appreciate that. I tried what you suggested, but still having same problem. Not sure what you mean by "remove file, modify it and add file back, and copy back original to data.zip file". Please explain again. By the way, I can't find the hp_sagan.ini file in the OS\data.zip folder. Is this the backup folder?
Please help.....lemclub

@lemclub, here is a post I created a few days ago about extracting and modifying file from data.zip: "I would not make any changes on the device's data.zip itself until I was ready to transfer the updated file. Just take a copy of your original data.zip file and extract the source file (from previous post) to your desktop. Modify the file. When you have completed your modifications, open the data.zip on the device. Find the source file in the device's data.zip. Click on the file. Select 'add'. Browse and find the updated file on your desktop. Select the file and follow instructions. The file is now updated and zipped in your device's data.zip. This is a pretty straightforward way to do it. There are many other ways, but this will work and (should be) easy to follow..."
This explains how to make changes to the files in data.zip. The reason you can't find that file in the OS\data.zip, is because it is in the NAV\data.zip... |

I just received by iPaq 310 and it is great.
I have been searching through the various configuration files and have been unable to find two things.
1. A way to have 310 suspend after a certain amount of time while on battery.
2. A way to have the 310 auto connect back to BT phone after resuming from suspension.
I am skeptical that I will find a solution to #2.
As for #1, I have found a setting under the control panel using Total Commander which allows you to control battery suspension options. However, after making the desired change, it does not stick.
Has anyone came across a solution to any of these problems? |

@SidewinderFW: Thanks, the toggle.exe file works perfectly, will definately come in handy to save battery life. When you get a chance, can you please post some details on iTaskMgr.exe. Thanks !

Below is my shot at modifying the screen colors on the Ipaq. As you can see, I have taken the liberty of "adjusting" out some of the bland colors and have given the screen display more "pop". Since I only use 3d views, I have not done any work on the 2d view files (and don't plan to, really). The "city" color is actually more of a deep tan (similar to the border around this post) than what's depicted on the screen. The water is "bluer", the road colors have been changed or modified, and don't bleed together as much. Here is the 3d day version:

The old night version was too bland with no detail. I have added some detail and modified road colors. Here is the 3d night version:

By the way, sorry about the INCORRECT date on the pictures. My camera needed new batteries and I forgot to set the date;-). |

AS ALWAYS - Please backup your device before attempting any modifications! Failure to do so (in light of a problem) could BRICK your Ipaq! (Keep a copy of your old Data.zip file handy in case you don't like the modifications!)
Below is the file with the color modifications. There are two files in the Zip folder; day3dcolor.ini and night3dcolor.ini. These files are part of your NAV\data.zip folder. Just unzip these two files to your desktop. Open your data.zip file on your device. Make sure you go to NAV\ui_hp_sagan\common\... Add the two files here. Follow the instructions and you are all set.
A couple of things: * These are MY optimal color schemes. You may not like them, or you may love them! I won't make ANY changes to them for individuals who would like "one or two things" tweaked. I am also not taking recommendations for future modifications... * I am not going to, at this time, do any modifications to the 2d screens. I don't use them, and I only see them when I am planning a route. Out of sight, out of mind :-). * I hope you enjoy the schemes. I think they are MUCH better than the original...

@JohnCougar I am also new to HP iPAQ, per your words you've been able to use the Trip planner in the NavExtra? It is always GRAY and Unpushable for me.. tried the manual and there seems to be no relevant info at all. Could you please, if can, provide how to activate that#65311;
Some other problems: Also,still confused how to put the "red exit cross" in the OASIS interface that I dont need to reboot everytime when I want to exit the navigation.
Also the POI visibility seems to be fixed on the iPaq even if you try to set it in the settings-vision-map? Any solutions to this? Too many useless POI dislay is really annoying and slows it down like a sn@il..
Any opinion/suggestion appreciated. |

| @Euca, in order to use the trip planner you have to go to Ipaq.com where you can plan a trip with multiple waypoints using Google maps, then download that trip (routes) to the Ipaq. |

I purchased a pqi 8G SDHC card and made a backup of all files in /ResidentFlash to the pqi card. I then deleted all the files in /ResidentFlash, removed the pqi and rebooted. The 310 would not boot. However when I put the pqi card in with the CELauncher.exe (i.e. CECMD.exe) it booted into native WinCE. When I checked the /ResidentFlash directory and the .bin, .eph, and .obs files in the root were back. What process is writting these? Then I restored the IPQA directory, removed the pqi and rebooted again. It boots and runs fine. One thing to note is that you cannot dismount /ResidentFlash (Part01), it must be failing because of the process writting those files.
@Sancho1234: I'm having a problem getting opera running. I don't know if it is opera, or the USB Link. I believe you ran through ActiveSync to get network connenctivity, did you change the USB from Serial to RNDIS (Remote NDIS)? My ActiveSync works fine with the 310. Opera installs ok, then I copy the cellcore.dll into the opera directory. When I open Opera it does nothing (no erros, nothing). Any hints?
BTW, as I was playing with other appications I realized that aygshell.dll and gx.dll are already on the ipaq in each of the games directory (classic and flux). When I copied these into /Windows I was able to get other applications to run that were looking for these .dll's.
@jaredr: did you fine the Itaskmgr? That along with AlarmClock, CECMD, Keyboard, Screenblank, Registry editor, and others. They all work on the Ipaq 310. Grab it here.

@SidewinderFW: Thanks, I ended up using ResInfo as a which seems to work well.
I am also having trouble with Opera. I followed these steps as mentioned in this topic: "Be looking for the opera 8.60u2 trial here: http://hpcmonex.net/izemize.htm" After copying the cellcore.dll to the Opera directory I still get an opera.dll error and the program won't launch. Any hints?
Looks like in order to run other GPS tools from Oasis interface (like Ozi) and if you want to return to Nav you need to set ;autostart igo igoautostart=0 otherwise after killing Nav.exe you cannot launch Nav again unless you do a reset. Has anybody noticed that too?
Bit off topic, but does anybody know how to delete a speedcam or do a bulk upload? I've managed to do bulk POI additions (6000+) in the \iPAQ\Nav\Save\user.poi file, but not sure about Speedcams. |

| @jaredr: Opera needs aygshell.dll to run. Copy it into /windows. But, as I said the opera.dll error will be gone however it still does not run. I'm going to keep poking at it. |

@gpspassion: It was a bit of a painstakingly long process, but I managed to figure out what each of the POI fields were (seperated by a pipe | in the \Residentflash\iPAQ\Nav\Save\user.poi file)
Fields are: ID|FolderLevel1.FolderLevel2.etc|Icon Name|POI Name|Latitude|Longitude|unknowntext|unknowntext||City, State|Street Name|Street Number|Extra Information|Phone Number
An example is: 1|Barossa Valley.Wineries|Wolf Blass|Tourist_Attractions.Winery|-34.4396|139.0343|_a**|_asa||Nuriootpa, SA|Sturt Hwy|1|Extra Info text|085550000
I did the following steps because I had a whole bunch of waypoints in Google Earth and didn't want to add them all again:
- Grabed the names of all icons from data.zip (ui_hp_sagan\icons\poi\*) - Used POIEdit to convert my GE waypoints into CSV format (Lat, Long, Info and Name) - Used spreadsheet to concatenate those details and pipes so it is in the format shown above - Backed up the user.poi file - Copied and pasted data into the user.poi file, works a treat.
The only thing I cannot work out is how to add new icons. The existing icons seem to be in a format not recognized by any program (*.icon).
