2)8gb card works fine (I'm using a "Patriot" brand, class 6).
Just make sure you have a good SDHC card reader (the 3 I had, including the one built into a Wolverine portable HD, didnt work), at best they would show the card, let you copy 4gb to it, then corrupt the file system on the card (formatting would fix it). At worst, they wouldnt even recognise the card.
Sandisk Micromate reader works great though.
5)Tascal RegEdit (freeware) |

@SidewinderFW: I tried the internet through the USB port with ActiveSync. Works, but I do not see his sense.
Be looking for the opera 8.60u2 trial here: http://hpcmonex.net/izemize.htm - install to the \ResidentFlash - change the url of \Application Data in the Registry (Shell Folder) |

| Internet access, step one make sure it can be done with USB. Step 2, see if I can upgrade the BlueSoleil version to support a Bluetooth modem device then connect through my phone. Just as I do today using Bluetooth on my laptop. |

@SidewinderFW: can you please tell me where you downloaded screenblank.exe and iTaskMgr from, thanks.
Has anyone been able to run outlook/word/excel on this device? Seems weird to be able to sync mail, tasks and calendar and not be able to use them. Do these apps normally run on Windows CE? Will they run on the 310 and if so how ? Thanks. |

I use the Total Commander CE for registry editing. |

Read the documentation again. You can only sync contacts, nothing else. And even that is file based (not through ActiveSync)
An alternative would be SoftMaker Office CE. It does work on the 310. |

Hi all.....I'm a newbee to "customizing" and I'm so glad to find this forum and learn a great deal from you guys. But now I need help. I recently received a HP310 as a gift from my wife. The GPS functions and screen were great but the voice/soumd volume was too low. I found some suggestion in this forum on how to increase volume (JohnCougar on 01/15/2008). After I've opened and saved the Data.zip / hp_sagan.ini file and changed the volume from 64 to 120, I can no longer reboot my HP310, whether by itself or linked to my PC. I tried rebooting my PC and resetting the HP310 many times, as suggested in this forum, but to no avail. The message shown on the HP310 : "Failed to open file. igo\800_480\loading.bmp, existing application". My PC error message is "USB device not recognized". I would appreciate help from you guys. .....lemclub |

| @lemclub, I can only guess that you didn't rezip the file correctly. You should remove the file from the zip folder and THEN modify it. Once completed, then add the file back to the data.zip folder. I would just copy back the original data.zip to the Ipaq. Try this... Just attach the Ipaq to the pc. Turn on the Ipaq. Reboot the pc with the Ipaq attached. Hopefully, you will get the connection. Go into "my computer" and find the Ipaq. Replace the data.zip with your backup data.zip. Keep in mind, there are two data.zip files. One in the OS folder and one in the NAV folder. Make sure you replace the correct one. Hope this helps... |

@jaredr: use the screenblank from this url http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff/screen.zip
unzip the file in windows. Copy the "Screen off.exe" in the Cassiopia subdirectory into a new directory on the 310 under games. As always name the directory the same as the file, I call it screenblank.
Three points to note:
1) Once installed it only seems to run successfully when running in GPS mode (under Oasis), not native WindowsCE.
2) The screen will not blank when you click on it UNTIL the native power-save mode has happened at least once. In other words, under Oasis, click settings->system and set the idle time to 1 minute. What I do next is goto Entertainment->Music and start my MP3 playlist. Once the music is playing, go back to Games and WAIT ONE MINUTE, then click on screenblank. At this point the touchscreen is still active so I immedately click the lock in the upper left hand corner (blindly). That way I can't accidently start another application.
3) Last, ss someone else pointed out in the forum, there must be a bug in the screen restore processing. To re-enable the screen you need to hold the power button to turn it off, then again to turn it on.
This may sound silly but it works. I listended to MP3 for 4 hours (without the screen on) on a flight back from LA and still had 30% battery remaining.
I'll respond on the ItaskMgr in another reply. |

@JohnCougar I posted earlier about having no luck with increasing the volume. Could you read my post and tell me if I need to do anything differently? Thanks |

| @Coldsilvernc, I read the post and don't have any other recommendations at this time. I'm not sure why it hasn't worked on your Ipaq. |

@SidewinderFW: Thanks so much for the detailed information, however I get an error message saying that "Screenblank is not a valid Windows CE application". I copied the file over while in Activesync mode and also tried in Mass Storage mode, but had the same outcome. Any ideas? |
