| (HP Ipaq-310)Hello all, I was wondering is there a way to change the directional arrow on the map to something else like a car. Also is there a way to add more games then the ones that came with the Ipaq 310. |

You missed out one step :)
I tried a couple of times and CECMD could not update the data.zip with the changed .ui file.
THEN, I booted my device in Windows CE and then I was able to replace the old .ui file with the new .ui file.

That's GREAT! It's good to know I wasn't hearing things! By the way, I have also modified my 3D day and night colors. The new colors ease a lot of the distortion of the roads on the horizon. The night colors I chose are significantly better than the OEM colors. I will try to upload some photos of the day and night screen mods in a day or so. I also adjusted the tilt view a bit to see a little more detail... |

I use the uBook Reader: http://www.gowerpoint.com/uBook_main.html Install the WinCE version to the \ResidentFlash drive!
@jyqureshi: - copy the old .ui file to the flash with CECMD from data.zip. - rename the file. - open with CECMD (light blue icon) the .ui file, and edit - after save as original name. - copy the new file to the data.zip with CECMD. |

Okay, I figured out a way to add back the CARPOOL LANES. As always, first SAVE EVERYTHING!!! Go to the setting_800_480.ui file in ui_hp_sagan\800_480\ui in the data.zip. Scroll down until you see: <CHECKBOX btnSR_Toll template=tcheckbx_2r x=430 y=232 w=220 text="Toll" boolmodel="route.allow_toll">
<CHECKBOX btnSR_Carpool template=tcheckbx_2r x=430 y=292 w=220 text="Carpool" boolmodel="route.allow_carpool" hide>
REMOVE THE SPACING AND DELETE THE WORD 'HIDE' AT THE END OF CARPOOL, so it looks like:
<CHECKBOX btnSR_Toll template=tcheckbx_2r x=430 y=232 w=220 text="Toll" boolmodel="route.allow_toll"> <CHECKBOX btnSR_Carpool template=tcheckbx_2r x=430 y=292 w=220 text="Carpool" boolmodel="route.allow_carpool"> Save and zip back into your Data.zip file.
That trick adds back the check box on the screen. I am not in an area right now with a lot of carpool lanes, so I would be interested to know if adding this back actually does anything, but the box was checked when I opened the screen so it just may work... |

@JohnCougar
Thanks for the info, I'm wondering why HP would disable the Car Pool lane setting? Maybe there are some routing problems with it? |

Who knows? (You're asking a leading question...) Probably the same reason the 'pedestrian' mode was disabled. To me, it looks like a programmer may have disabled the wrong mode. The 'cross border' mode should not be a selection on the US device, IMHO. Looks like they were transposed. Just my guess... There are MANY options of IGO8 that have been disabled in the HP offering. Some require additional screens, so programming is required. Some, like the pedestrian (and carpool) options were just 'turned off' or hidden. It's your choice to modify or not, though. (See 1st post in the thread.)

Well done for the carpool mod, the collection of "tips" is growing nicely ;-) We have one on the Euro version to add back the speedlimit signs that were removed for some reason, not sure the US TeleAtlas maps have them though, I remember some criss-crossing on that on the Mio devices.
Here it is : 1. Find ui_hp_sagan/840-480/ui/navigatemap_800_8480.ui 2. go to line 88 under " ;--Speedlimit" 3. add : <SPRITE xxx bmp="$speed.bmp" x=10 y=280 z=100 visiblemodel="gps.position_valid"> <TEXT xxx x=41 y=300 w=60 h=60 z=101 L2R=1 align="CENTER" text="0" FONTTYPE=font_speedlimit_below font="FtraBd__" fontsize=48 color=#000000 textmodel_wstr="navigation.current_speed_limit.number_text" visiblemodel="gps.position_valid"> 4. Add the speed.bmp from http://www.gpspassion.com/upload/grandous_speed.zip in \common
If you only want that sign when you are over the speed limit, replace gps.position_valid by navigation.near_speed_limit
As usual, make a of a woring data.zip first ! |

| @leon2005: Because it needs an aygshell.dll file. |
