Small correction - cerdisp2.exe will not be put on a WM 5 or Wince device automatically. You have to copy it over manually and need to start it manually too.

@gpspassion,

I have some HDTV files in 1920x1080 that I captured from my HD tuner card. I just compressed them using Xvid and picked a width of 800 to match the HP. I tried disabling any of the fancy encoder options, but I am not an expert in video encoding.

Where is this 1500kbps 640x480 Matrix trailer? That bitrate seems much too high for this device to handle based on my experience so far and lbendlin's note about keeping bitrates around 250kbps or less. I'm curious to try it out though. Maybe it is using a MPEG2 instead of MP4 compression?

EDIT: Found the link in your earlier post. I did have another Xvid file around 640x352 in size that I compared on the Mio with TCPMP and GAPI vs. the HP with raw buffer. The results were about the same for both devices on the same file. The Mio might have even been a tad faster.

Ah yes, the US has had HD for a while now, in Europe it was supposed to be kick started by the WC2006 but it's still lagging...how big is that file of yours? If it isn't too large, could you maybe upload it? I wonder what kind of quality you're getting at only 150kbps for a 800x440 file?

So I tried the Matrix trailer. It does play pretty smooth, but the real bitrate is just under 200kbps for video and 128kbps for the audio. Not sure why there is a 1500 in the filename. I only tried playing it with the built-in player for now, but I noticed that it seemed like it was only playing at half-resolution. 480 height should match pixel for pixel, but it was definitely undersampling.

However, I did do something once to get my 800x440 video to play with undersampling too using the built-in player, not sure what I did, but I wasn't able to repeat it.

The video is about 45MB and doesn't have any audio (I couldn't get the audio codec working right, I just wanted a quick test). Encoder settings probably weren't set optimally for playback on handheld devices. It's the first 4 minutes of an episode of the TV show Lost here in the US. If you tell me where/how to upload it, I can, but I don't know if there are any legal issues with this.

How many games could run on ipaq 310? I have tried some games from pdamill, but many of them say it could only run on portrait mode. Is there any way that I could rotate the screen?
I have tried other games, after I copy two dll files from the directory of the games come with ipaq 310, I could open some games. But it only display on a small corner, and the worse is there is no exit icon. Who know how to exit these applications? Thanks.

Using PDA apps in WinCE devices is really hit and miss and you'll need to experiment, no general rule. You could try rotate.exe to switch to portrait, just google it above.

@sprog - ok for the actual bitrate, when you say you played it, you mean the standard player? You could try uploading it on megaupload. A good pocket divx encoder is...http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/ ;-)

You used to be able to download it from Microsoft's site as part of Pocket PC power toys, but I can't seem to find any direct links anymore. You install it through ActiveSync. It will put the cerdisp program on the HP and a client viewer program on your desktop. Start the desktop client, then run the cerdisp program on the HP, just click the default buttons I think, and connect, and you should see your HP display on your desktop now.

Thank you! The remotedsp.exe is working. http://files.filefront.com/remotedspexe/;7296604;/fileinfo.html

sancho1234,

most of these programs won't work under CE, and as the 310 doesn't have any buttons they are rather useless unless they have some form of automated screenshot mode. I will (one last time) point out that my ScreenShotCE program works on the 310, and can produce screenshots at up to 2Hz rates.

Sorry to bother you again, folks, but I have another question about TCPMP I downloaded a cab file of version 0.72RC1 and got it installed. However, program crashes on just about MP3 file I put through it, plus the one's it did play sound plain horrible. Any suggestions? Should I look for a different version?

Come on...using the google box like I suggested earlier today takes you straight to here -> http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=75304#459316 !

@anymal - can't see a good reason for that, no problem here, at least with a divx, haven't tried mp3s.

Can someone please post the exact steps as how to install TCPMP?

I've downloaded "tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab", put it into the games folder but it doesn't show up in the games list.

I'm completely new to this so any help would greatly be appreciated.

Only .exe's show in the games module. I'd suggest using an SD card with the celoader.exe trick explained in the first message here. Then you can click on the .cab file and it will install to the 310. After that move the whole TCPMP directory with the tcpmp.exe to the games directory.
