I have a nuvi 200w, ID 0737 which died when I was loading new maps.
Now my GPS during load stop and show " No detailed mapsfound that support routing. The nuvi cannot be used without them".
Is there a newer cure firmware for 0737 devices than the one posted at the begining of this thread?
When i start "updater", can't found port . PLS, help.

Walker_04, attach usb and load with mapsource any maps such as world map (free). Another tip - press and hold for 10 seconds on this banner and you will boot without maps. Anyway, you need not use any cure firmware. You need to load/restore maps only (that came as preloaded with your device). |

redlander, you have newer version of the 2x0 nuvi. You should enter the 2x5 service rgn topic and find appropraite HWID there. You need to create cure version or ask someone like PouchX to give you a link with the cure version.

Hi neadrenalin I too have a 260w after transfering a gmapsupp.img and new red-light & speed camera POI on to my unit it since has been stuck in the "LOADING MAP" startup screen.
I have read many posting on this issues and tried getting into Pre-boot screen but these new units doesn't tell you when your in it. And im not sure the procedure is the same. Also I download G7ToWin A.00.200f from download.com it can't detect my unit and say "Time Out".
Can you tell me the proper procedure to get into Pre-boot mode with this unit. I dont want to use the wrong firmware since i don't know my HWID.

Okay here is a little update.
I tried to get into Pre-boot mode by hold my finger on the upper right corner of screen + holding the POWER switch on. I the UPDATER.EXE in the back ground running now it detects my garmin under USB as "NUVII 2 Series Unit ID 3520270615" Also I have G7toWin A.00.200f running try to get the HWID by clicking the upper menu tab "GPS" then "GET GPS ID" but all i got back was "Serial Port Timeout" and then "GPS COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL ERROR: MSG LENGTH"
Here are the screen shots.
Unit ID - http://i42.tinypic.com/bgwp55.jpg g7towin error1 - http://i42.tinypic.com/v5cthi.jpg g7towin error2 - http://i43.tinypic.com/1z1zfoy.jpg
Please help me out what is my next step? How can I get my HWID? Even if i get my HWID for 260w is there any firmware/rgn files for this unit? |

Sunday Update
Okay I found out the reason why g7towin didnt work. It is because is was running a older version G7ToWin A.00.200f from download.com. Then I downloaded G7ToWin A.00.201 (3/7/2009) from www.gpsinformation.org/ronh/g7towin.htm
Started my nuvi 260w in preboot mode, hook usb, run G7Towin and ended with this information.
How do you guys keep the unit in preboot mode it just last for only 10-20seconds.

Guys,
I have a Nuvi 205W with software version 2.40, ID = 0930. Could anyone be kind enough to help me create a RGN file to revive my unit? It went haywire after a software update. It always stops at the 'loading maps' stage and then reboot. The process goes on and on infinitely. Please... anyone?

Welcome to the forum David.
Requesting a fix in this thread for a 205W probably won't get many replies as it is for the 2X0 series. But a forum search will often be your friend :)
Have a look in the 2X5 thread at http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=117599 as your cure may already be posted there. |

This message is for neadrenalin or anyone who understands or can help me. I dont know what else to do. I did everything.
I have a nuvi 200w. I did a webupdate and the version of the firmware was replaced to 4.0. With the usb cable still connected and before turning on the gps i updated the maps with mapsource and added some POI´s. After that, i disconnected the cable and turned on the GPS. It showed a big window with an error about not maps stored. But i could get into the menu by pressing the screen a few seconds. When i entered Maps Menu.. there was nothing inside. I turned off the GPS and after turning on again never boot again. It keeps restarting after the Garmin Logo when it says "loading maps".
After that i´ve found this post. I did everything step by step. First of all i cant know for sure the GPS ID, the g7towin program doesnt work for me, dont know why. (im using last version from website). I tried in 2 different computers and the same error appears http://i42.tinypic.com/v5cthi.jpg
Anyway, i guess the ID is 0737 because i did update the "RGN" file and it updated ok after asking me to update a the software. When i tried to update with a 0835 RGN it didnt let me do it.
Ok.. so i tried with 2 RGN files, cure and original 2.60 version 4.00 version from PouchX in http://www2.garniak.pl/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5494
In all cases after updating with update.exe unit restarts itself and problem continues.
I simply dont know what to do. Is it possible that my unit does not have a solution? Am i doing something wrong?
Please i wait for someone to help me. Thank you very much. |

You should change the configuration of g7towin to File > Configuration > COM Port > USB. After that you can understand the HWID of your automotive GPS. ... I am guessing, but...Using Hex Editor search for this strings "2f 00 47 00 61 00 72 00 6d 00 69 00 6e 00 2f = /.G.a.r.m.i.n./" in to the PouchX cure file and change the strings for example to "78 00 47 00 61 00 72 00 6d 00 69 00 6e 00 2f = /.x.a.r.m.i.n./". Probably this would disable the unit to read anything from the /Garmin folder. Hope this healps!
