Hi there,
I am trying to enable the built-in test modes on a Sirf device in a Telit Eval Kit using both SirfLive and my own software. I use the Sirf Software to switch the operating mode but there are no recognisable test mode messages coming out of the receiver. I am looking at the binary strings starting A0A2.....
The system has a fix and I am pointing it at the strongest satellite for the test
Any ideas?
Rich.

This is more of a theory question than technical...I think.

I'm working on deploying wifi in my company. There are several great tools that take the wifi strength, etc and plot it on a map or survey drawing.

Outside the buildings I'm golden. It's inside that's the problem.

Currently I'm using a BU-353S4 for mapping, and it seems pretty versatile. I've had to use SirfDemo a few times when it's balked me though.

Now the theory part...(Links would be great if you don't want to explain it) How can I get the signal from outside to my laptop?

I was thinking... If I had a few GPSs on tripods near windows that would broadcast their location Like a dgps I could relay the signal indoors and triangulate myself from the reference points. I don't know if that's crazy talk or not.

Thanks,
Skymeat

Hello,
I am using the GPS module ORG 1410 (which is barely the same as origin 4472 or even the 14XX serie) directly with a microcontroler using spi communication interface.

I managed to get the GPS module working with OSP protocol (switching from default NMEA to OSP), I am able to request the software version for instance (MID 6). I am stuck one step further when it comes to switch back to NMEA to read navigation information. I have tested with a lot a different commands, including the sample command provided by OSP reference manual. When I send the command, the module will finish sending its OSP messages and then it keeps sending 0xA7 0xB4 which is the idle pattern, however I have asked to send navigation command at 1 hz. Here is the command :

A0 A2 00 18
81 02 01 01 00 01 00 01 00 01 01 01 00 01 00 01 00 01 00 01 00 01 12 C0
01 61 B0 B3

This asks to switch to NMEA, Do not change last-set value for NMEA debug messages, GGA messages at 1hz, RMC messages at 1hz, 4800 baud rate, checksum has been verified.

I am sending iddle pattern 0xA7 end 0xB4 through SPI in a while loop. Before switching to OSP, I am fully able to read NMEA output message, Now if I switch to OSP, ask for a software version and get back to NMEA with the command explaned above, all I get is 0xA7 0xB4 in return.. Do you have any clue ?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.
