I am working on a BASIC (Liberty BASIC) program to examine USB GPS output and I would like to learn more about how USB GPS units go about sending NMEA sentences (How often, which ones, how big, etc). If anybody knows of a good book and/or web site (particularly one that explains the Prolific 2303 and/or Sirf III-base units) I'd appreciate any referals. Thanks.

We have a Visual Basic program "MarineData" that processes and displays NMEA 2000 instrument data.
A description of the program and some general NMEA 2000 information can be viewed at: http://www.rerthird.dyndns.info/

Our code is open source, but the complete program uses several commercial modules.

Bill,
Late in replying I'm afraid. Are you still in need of a reply?
