Hi

I have a Roadrover Car Panel A2270P for Toyota Prado.

It is built over wince5 / MIPS processor.
It comes with Route 66 Navigate7 for MIPS. The UAE map I have is outdated and it seems that Route66 stopped to support MIPS.

Thanks to the precious information from toyota4arab forum (Obviously, you need to understand Arabic !) I was able to access to Wince5.

Next step was to install other GPS applications.
All what I found compatible with MIPS :
- Oziexplorer : very basic, I do not like
- Sygic Drive : versions 7.50 and 7.71 work, but its routing engine and interface are very limited
- Finean or Polnav : great, reminds me of IGO. There are 2 versions : [ed - see PM]

I jumped on to Fedom looking at the features. But now stuck because of difficulty finding MIPS II compatible softwares. So far I could not find any .exe file that works on Fedom to explore the files. They advertise the unit as a PC capable of opening many file types including .exe files. Even though it is Windows CE, compatibility with the MIPS processor puts limitation on the units potential.

Seems that WinCE loads from ROM on bootup and calls the shell program via "startup" in the windows folder

Certainly, any changes I make in the wimdows folder (desktop etc) are undone on reboot.

Hi!
I own a Roadrover/ Fedom 2265SF for Subaru Forester. It's a great unit!

Mine came with the latest PolNav with Western European maps. How did you access the CE? I received a firmware update (to cure a bug with the steering controls) and one of the update files allows CE exploration.

I've found all the installed applications in the A2280 folder on the NAND flash, they are called by the shell program "manager"

So, what about non- navi applications? I'm looking for a calculator prog and perhaps a game of backgammon to add in.

Everything I've tried so far is unrecognised as a valid CE program; I'm not sure if it's because they're not MIPS compatible or because there are some .dlls missing.

Does anyone have an idiot's guide to files and locations for CE? I'd like to know what (if anything) is missing from the install; likewise, where to look for MIPS apps?
