Now that the JVs are back to working again, I guess I'll try to re-find the thread waiting for the promised route support.

@NanaimoRick
"Should you have any further questions and/or concerns please feel free to let us know by either responding back to this email"

Rick would it be possible to share the return email address with forumites? The difficulty I had was finding an address that I could respond to! It is very difficult to follow up on an issue when you have to start from scratch every time.

For any of you folks that have been following my ongoing dialogue/rants with Garmin about the "only one JV picture being seen" problem on the 3790, which by the way is FIXED with the 4.20 firmware update, I'd like to close this issue by sharing the e-mail I received from Garmin this morning:

Good morning Rick,

I am sorry that it has been awhile but I have good news. A software update was released to fix the issue of not seeing the junction views after the first one. Thank you so much for your patience, your dilligence and your time in making sure that we had everything we needed to help you and other Garmin customers that were having this issue. It means a lot that you cared enough to do so

Please use the WebUpdater program to install the latest version of software to your device.

Should you have any further questions and/or concerns please feel free to let us know by either responding back to this email or calling our toll free number 1-800-800-1020 during regular business hours.

Again, thank you for contacting Garmin International and have a great day!

Best Regards,

I'd like to thanks to all the members here that took the time to contact Garmin as well. It goes to prove that if we make enough noise about an issue we can get it fixed.

This bug seems to have been fixed with sw4.20
Can somebody confirm this?

Thanks Serg, the update did indeed fix the JV problem.

If your doing this update using the 3790 on battery, make sure you follow the warning about having a fully charged battery. That's always important but this update takes a long time to install (loading software message stays on the screen a long time) so a nearly dead battery could mean a really dead Nuvi if it goes dead before the update completes.

Which is the best firmware, jv file to use. After upgrading to 4.10 the missing JV afte the first one is very annoting. i also noticed that my traffic no longer shows up as well.
popej Posted - 23 juin 2011 : 13:16:43
Downgrade from 4.10 is not recommended if you are using City Navigator Europe NTU. Previous firmwares don't fully support unicode maps, you can get problems with address search.

Don't get hung up on having the "latest and greatest" firmware from Garmin - many on this forum have found (to their cost at times) that the "greatest" usually isn't the "latest"!

Any link to a 3.90 firmware download? Garmin took their prior firmware downloads off their site.

I got so fed up with the JCV problem that I just removed the junction view file from my gps. I don't have the fancy views anymore but at least if I make a detour the distance to turn part of the screen is still there, without having to cycle off the map screen. The distance to turn is far more useful to me than a picture, which is only half the screen size anyway.

I have a long trip coming up in a 1 1/2 weeks and it never occurred to me I might not have a 4.10 fix before then. It's made all the more unforgivable because of their incomprehensible decision to repost 4.10 after it was initially withdrawn. Shame on you Garmin.
Shawn17 Posted - 23 juin 2011 : 00:17:29
It's now been more than 2 months since version 4.10 was released and no fix is in sight for the significant problems with Junction View, lane assist, etc.

Come on Garmin - I didn't spend close to $500.00 for your premium GPS unit for the advanced features to NOT work and then wait months until, maybe, a fix is released.

Is this really how you treat some of your best customers? Really?

I think it's time anyone here with this issue to continually contact Garmin, voicing our considerable displeasure, until new firmware which corrects the problems is released.
daktari Posted - 20 juin 2011 : 19:59:59
Sebagari - I had exactly the same problem. I couldn't resolve it by re-installing earlier versions, and eventually Garmin agreed to replace my unit.

The "new" unit is OK for Voice Command (haven't tried BT)- but the power switch doesn't operate, so I'm wondering whether they've sent me another faulty 3790T that someone else had returned!
