Hello,
my name is Frank and I am experimentating with this GPS Mouse mentioned below. I am not sure about the type of mouse I have in front. At the beginning I thought this may be a GNS 9810 TMC/GPS mouse, but I am not sure now. The init sequences mentioned in the TMC GN GUIDE in this forum don't work .... no TMC data is delivered.

Can anyone of you identify this device for me ?

Your help is really appreciated.

The device is conneted to a serial port. The parameters are 38400 8-N-1 and there is data comming after sending some bytes to the device ... but no TMC data. I guess I am not using the correct initcode.

Hi Frank,

I don't know the model number but I use this GPS mouse and do receive TMC data. Firstly the TMC data is transmitted on the same connection, it is embedded in the GPS data. The port settings you are using are correct. I guess you are not receiving TMC data as the device needs to be "tuned" to a radio station. I don't know what string to send to achieve this. I am using Destinator 6 with Sams on Pocket PC and receive TMC with no problems though.

Regards

Andy

Hi all,

I didn't manage it to get TMC data out of my mouse. Maybe this device doesn't understand the known activation sequences. Maybe it is to old.

Hello,
thanks a lot for you quick answer. It is good for me to understand what I haven in fromt of me. Two different serial ports, that is new for me. Hmmmm I have to think about it.

I connected the devive to my 38400 serial port and get this response when I try to send a init sting "0xff,0x56,0x72,0x78,0x56,0x0D,0x0A"
Press any key to continue . . .
The init string is  VrxV

Results are following:

On the other hand, I got this Hardware info:

$GPRMC,000001.000,V,0000.0000,N,00000.0000,E,0.0,,270102,,*3D

I was surprised to read BAUD RATE 4800, because the device is conneted to 38400...
I have to find out, if I have to use a different PINOUT at the connector. One for TMC and one for GPS , is that possible ? You mentioned it. I haven't seen it before. I guess I have to google for a manual. Thanks for your hint !!

Welcome to the forums, it certainly looks like a the first GNS mouse GPS receiver with TMC, provided excellent performance back in the day.

If memory serves you had to use two select two different serial ports to use it, one for GPS and one for TMC. Not sure how that could work with only one RS232 connector but maybe that's a possibility you should look into.
