2010.40 just came out? Wow, that's quick. |

Posted - 22 janv. 2010 : 17:35:55 Even for $95, the LifeTime price at Amazon is great. Besides, for $95, you can download the keycode and begin your upgrades right away. When Amazon was selling the upgrade for $79, they were selling the keycode ONLY on the card. You had to wait for them to ship it to you. They were not selling the immediate download version at a sale price.

PS, just got off the phone with Garmin, and they told me to take it back to Costco and get another one? Doesn't seem economical to me.
If the lifetime would go back on sale at Amazon, I'd just do that. |

Posted - 21 janv. 2010 : 22:00:22 As often happens, the server must be getting slammed because I get a fatal error when I try to download the 2010.40 maps.

Posted - 17 janv. 2010 : 01:55:08 Yes, not using the nuvi would be silly, waiting until the end of the 60 days in the scenario I described above to trigger the download could make sense though. Actually it probably only works if you were entitled to a map update in the first place, if your maps are current you won't be entitled to one so there is nothing to wait for. |

Posted - 17 janv. 2010 : 01:48:24 IMHO, playing the "waiting game" on the nuMaps guarantee is not worth it ... especially if you are not using your nuvi in order to protect the acquisition date. Just go ahead and download the update you are offered and enjoy your nuvi. |

Posted - 17 janv. 2010 : 01:27:19 @NotMoneyGuy - yes, that means you have 60 days from that day to download your map update, it doesn't mean you can wait 60 days to see if a new map comes out (it used to work when the program started last year), you're only entitled to the latest map as of the iFix date. Again the idea is to guarantee the buyer he has the latest maps at the time of purchase, not that he will get a free upgrade if new maps come out within 60 days.
However it appears that Garmin remove maps from their servers after a while, so if you can wait long enough then you might get the new maps after all. For instance if the 2011.10 maps come out tomorrow, you wouldn't be entitled to download them, since your maps were current (of if they were not you would get a free update to 2010.30, what's your situation in this regard ?) when you bought your GPS, but if you wait until March 9th, you might get them after all, by default. |

Posted - 16 janv. 2010 : 21:56:55 Hmm. I'm a bit confused here. I never acquired a satellite lock (yet). I'm purposely waiting until the next update in a month or two. My number shows 632473611. Why is there a number there if there hasnt been a lock? |

Posted - 11 janv. 2010 : 22:36:13 My iFix is 632069154 which converts to "GMT: Thu, 11 Jan 1990 14:45:54 UTC Your timezone: Thursday, January 11, 1990 9:45:54 AM" So, January 11, 2010 is "day one" of my 60 right? Thank you. |

Posted - 11 janv. 2010 : 21:27:52 Probably not, you can check the date recorded in the iFix number : http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?whichpage=4&TOPIC_ID=116806#797438 |
