Posted - 14 oct. 2009 : 21:33:08 Amazon has the new Roadmate 1700 with a 7" screen for $255. Was thinking this might be a nice platform to run OziExplorer CE. Anybody play with one of these yet? Do we know if the "tocopy.exe" trick works on this series? On the Maestro 5310 I just re-named the Ozi executable to this and it works fine.
Any reviews or detailed specs yet? I have not found much. In one place I read the screen was 800x480 but not sure if that is correct. |

Posted - 20 mai 2010 : 07:57:12 Great update. I filed a petition with God so I can get a couple more hours added to the day. As soon as it's granted, I'll put some more time in with the 1700. |

Thanks for the update.
No I ran it off the SD card. Did you look at the readme file under section '4.13 Freeing up memory/RAM for apps'? I think that's where your problem might be. Here is how to free up more RAM according to the readme:
'...the best thing is to go into MioPocket Settings and enable "Close MioPocket during nav apps." That will close MioPocket's shell (SystemInformation) before the nav app is run and then re-run the shell when the nav app closes. That will free up about 3MB of memory. Another thing that you can do is to go into MioPocket Settings and configure "Set CE wallpaper" to "No wallpaper." That will save about 1MB of memory by not loading the black and blue Windows logo wallpaper on the CE desktop (behind MioPocket)...'
Hope that helps. |

Posted - 20 mai 2010 : 07:21:32 Hey JeepSWAG what problem are you running into with Igo? I installed and ran Igo just fine without any issues. The only problem I had was with the resolution but with a little help from google I was able to modify the sys.txt file in Igo and now it looks just fine. |

Posted - 19 mai 2010 : 22:18:09 Thanks again JeepSWAG, I did manage to unlock it, everything works fine except there is no GPS software on the Hard (flash) drive on the unit except windows CE. I have talked to the rewards program and they are going to replace it at no cost to me, as Far as manufacture they still think I am going to throw it in the trash as per the less then stellar customer service they have. I like the big screen on this unit but am pushing for a good working unit as that is what they should supply, When I get the new unit will probably not even use Magellan GPS but still want them to provide it as it is in the price of the unit.
Do have a great day and thanks for the help and advice. Soft-top |

Posted - 19 mai 2010 : 05:55:29 Technically not hard drive. These use a flash drive. You should be able to get it to boot from a SD card with Miopocket. It's pretty easy to do, but the instructions that you find here are not the best. I started an improved install doc (I write lots of install instructions for work) but haven't had a chance to finish it. The Magellan software really sux. Miopocket with a good map program is the way to go. |

Posted - 19 mai 2010 : 05:20:27 Thanks JeepSWAG I think its more then lame. Maybe the hard drive is not working just the ram. That would explain the problem. When I hook up usb connection it only shows a few files and empty folders, I am gonna try and return it to the vendor. (rewards program ) even tho they says it manufactures problem. I just can't believe I call them three hours after getting it, and they want credit card numbers for deposit etc, (and I pay shipping) I don't think so. I told them I would throw it in the trash and file a complaint with BBB. I will wait a couple of days and see what happens. To bad as I like the big screen as my eyes just ain't what they used to be. |

Posted - 19 mai 2010 : 02:03:47 Just got the Magellan 1700, tryed it right out of the box, would only boot to a usb icon. Called Magellan support they said it was damaged in shipping and that I would have to return it, at my expence also they would need my credit card to chage me a deposit. I told them that when I recive a new unit I would send them the defective one back because I know when this happens refirbished it what you get, requested to talk to a supervisor, he said try to update the firmware and it should be good. Any way I did everything here to unlock it, now I find out unit works fine except they forgot to put any software on the hard drive. Should I try to get a new unit or is there somwhere I can get a hard drive image to put on it? Thanks . Chris (soft-top) |

Posted - 05 mai 2010 : 22:25:35 ddi you buy igo8 or download it somewhere? |

Posted - 05 mai 2010 : 22:02:48 I've got a lot more work to do. I don't have Igo8 running and haven't loaded mio map yet. I've only got OziExplorer CE running. I've started to work on an install doc for miopocket. The install process is very easy, but the instructions that I've found on the net are not great. I'd say give it a shot and see how it goes. As long as you boot from the SD card.
I would think that any micro SD card would work, but I'm not certain. My 8 gig card is SDHC
