Posted - 06 déc. 2008 : 22:16:56 Hello everyone and welcome to this thread ! First i would like to say , that the purpose of this thread is to modify and prepare a valid rom image for Magellan Maestro 4200 . Anyone who is having knownledge to do that ... i wait for sugestions and support . Right now i don't have an original rom image for Maestro 4200 so i use a 4250 rom image as start point . If anybody has a 4200 in good condition , or a 4200 with original rom , i will be glad to provide all the steps to make a safe backup . Why i want to do that ... cooking a new rom ... ? Because of missing support from the part of Magellan for this model , i think that is nothing wrong in running another navigation software on this unit , and why not ... having support for SD HC cards , or wifi cards . I already manage to modify rom's for other devices and i know that would'nt be an easy task . Thanks for support and best regards ! |

Inside each archive listed below there is an self extracting executable. The executable can also be unpacked with ZIP. After unpacking content of the executable you have to look for bootloader and os image files.
For 32XX series (3200, 3210, 3220, 3225, 3250) use this: http://magellan.cachefly.net/softwareupgrades/web/Magellan_Maestro_3250_4_60_Rel1.zip Take GS399_BL_3.bin, rename it to GS399_BL.nb0 and copy to the root of empty SD card. Take GS399_MX_3.bin and copy to the root of empty SD card.
Hi,
I tried to find bootloader and os image files using this: http://magellan.cachefly.net/softwareupgrades/web/Magellan_Maestro_3250_4_60_Rel1.zip,
but inside I can't find GS399_BL_3.bin and GS399_MX_3.bin
There are only this two :"Magellan_Maestro_3250_4_60_Rel1.exe" and 165-0053-001 A MM3250_4_60 Readme.pdf Where can I find the bootloader and os image files files?
Thanks |

Posted - 05 févr. 2011 : 23:03:40 I have been reading many of your posts and was hoping you could help somehow. I have a Maestro 4050 that was formatted. I do not have the proper WinCE image and cks file. The latest firmware update does not show a winceimg.bin file. Any idea where I can find this?
Also, I have been able to get the unit going using an update from the 4xxx upgrade. However, there is nothing I can do about the S/N. While I have a proper back up of the Unit_ID.dat file, I can not get the S/N to stay for the life of me.

Posted - 22 déc. 2010 : 02:13:27 We can hit a milestone when we can manually put the Serial Number back on the internal flash! I've been looking all over this forum for a way to do this. So far, no luck. I don't want IGO8 on my bricked unit. I want to reverse the mistake of updating bootloader (erase flash) so i can get Magellan OS back with update capabilities and maps. You all definitely know your sh*t when it comes to these units! Anyone know how erase flash can be reversed? |

Posted - 18 déc. 2010 : 19:41:27 Anyone know if the below SDHC fix will work on a Magellan Maestro 4040? been looking for awhile.
Thanks.
Magellan Maestro models 4200, 4210, 4220, 4250
Adds SDHC card support: http://www.4shared.com/file/136059688/59a638f8/MM_42XX_SDHC_Support.html
It is tested by a member of this forum and it is confirmed working. |

Posted - 09 oct. 2010 : 23:09:18 samboy, Sorry to hear. What is your Mag model? As long as you haven't formatted the HDD partition you have good chance to recover it. I suspect the files in \HDD\APP folder is corrupted or missing. Please report your issue in the appropriate thread based on that model and we will try to help. This thread is intended for ROM cooking only. Hope you don't mind. |

Posted - 07 oct. 2010 : 10:33:46 dear all experts.. I am in grave trouble pls help..
i have a similar problem in my unit promark3 rtk..its a magellan product..when i try to open it..it hangs while showing loading screen. it shows loading progress bar to full than nothing happens.
i tried to use the rescue image.. but it hangs then also. i tried to explore the memory with windows ce os.. and filemanagerce 2.0
what i find.. 1. i cant delete/rename/copy new file to the internal memory. 2. whenever i or any soft try to do that the unit hangs. 3. using autoloader to reinstall os..makes it hang also.
my guess.. 1. the internal memory has become read only somehow. 2. the file attributes are normal/usual. 3. even in my documents folder i cant copy a small 1 kb txt file. 4. in windows temp folder cant del temp files..
my point is though the internal flash memory has 60% free space of its 95 MB capacity. it doesnt allow me to write any file to it.
but i can copy the files from internal memory (not on rom) to sd card. that operation was ok. |

Posted - 28 juil. 2010 : 20:43:43 From what I can see from Magellan Roadmate 1412, there is a numeric pad for serial number input. Once you input a number and press'set', it turn to a SD cad asking for mgnshell card. It actually remember the number even if you turn it off. That means the serial number can be input from the GPS itself. Then you need a mgnshell application to set additional parameters. It should be similar for other models, I think.

I'm new to this stuff but i had an idea concerning the lost S/Ns of the Device. Maybe the S/N is coded into the FAT(32)-Header. As far as i know there is a field for in "Individual ID" (lets call it like this ;) ). maybe this is a point to look at.

Posted - 20 avr. 2010 : 06:13:53 I've posted this in the Maestro 4250 unbrick fix tread but I thought some exposure in this thread might help too. Long story short, in an attempt to fix my REFURBISHED magellan mastro 4250 that randomly froze on me using the instructions on page 4 of that thread, I'm now left with an even more useless brick then b4 I started. Problems: I get the white screen, blue loading bar. 2nd problem, any attempts to fix the white screen by means of update OS w/ or w/o format ends up with the GPS freezing at OS image updated! please reboot (the screen is stuck with the fatter blue bar full). At this point, I'm out of patience to continue but if anyone has inputs on what I can do, I'd appreciate it. I will try to list in detail as best as I can remember my line of actions that lead up to the GPS being at its current state if anyone thinks it'll help but honestly I've done so much, I'm pretty confused.
P.S. This was suppose to be short but still turned out long so sry.. =/ |
