Posted - 07 mai 2008 : 10:29:06 I got stacked with the strange problem. I was trying to unlock my newly bought unit and to delete orifinal files from the flash disk I decide to make a format. After a hard reset I saw the warning that there is no enough memory. Then I noticed that my MIO C520 I cannot see the flash disk (DSK1 only ROM and DSK2(storage card). But the folder /My Flash Disk is still exist but has about 20MB instead of 1GB.
The unit is still functional because the storage card with unlock files.
Do you have any ideas except to go back to the store and ask to chenge the unit
Thank you in advance

Posted - 21 nov. 2012 : 10:49:39 Hello g_alin
i don't know if this thread is still active ... so i try !
First of all i beg your pardon for my bad english .. ( Frenchies are often like this i suppose ;) )
The touch screen of my CE520 is inactive . After a hard reset with button , the mainshell appears but no possibility of choice . touching the screen on any place don't do anything . iam a afraid it is a Screen failure but i am still hoping it would be a crash of anything in the firmware .
The C520 is west European and At starting the version is R33 3 9931 0622
What do you think about my problem ? Any chance to resolve the case ? May i try to upgrade with R37 Firmware ? (i still have access with PC, via USB, to flash disk an SDcard )
Thank you very much |

Hello,
I need your urgent help in restoring 2 WinCE5 PNA devices that I have bricked / semi-bricked.
The first is a Mio Moov Spirit Flat (S568) AKA Navman MY 500XT (N229) [SEEKER_FT525] After applying various unlocks, one of which claims to change “factory default settings”, I have lost touchscreen functionality. I have dumped the SMFLASH image with DiskRW and need to convert it to a flashable winceimg.bin. I have uploaded the dump to:
http://rapidshare.com/files/359566209/Dump_Mio_Spirit_Flat.rar
The second is a Clarion EZD580 [PNA495C] Also manufactured by Mitac. I have flashed it with a wrong flash image of a PNA500_510 and therefore lost all functionality, except bootloader. I have dumped the SMFLASH with DiskRW from a working unit and need to convert it to a flashable winceimg.bin The correct Image region Checksum should be 0x4906aec3 I have uploaded the dump to:
http://rapidshare.com/files/359565851/Clarion_EZD580_SMFlash.zip
I would appreciate it very much if you could help converting the 2 dump files to flashable winceimg.bin.
Thank you very much.
How did you get your Mio Moov S568 working again?
My Mio Moov S568 has the GWES error (orange screen) and lost touchscreen functionality. I need to restore firmware. I have everything in place, SD card with UBootLockApp R02.2.206.317 and the correct firmware on it.
But without touchscreen functionality I can't select the button Supermode.
Is there a way to push, without selecting on the screen an option, to proceed?
Many thanks in advance. |

John Dough,
If you can't activate the UPGRADE SCREEN using the software the only way is JTAG (I don't know of any 'short pins' option to activate the upgrade screen of the C520 ... ) Sorry.
Ok thanks anyway. |

resat, OK ... you ask for it ... 1. download galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip and C520_EEU_ROM_R02.zip 2. unzip those archives 3. copy on SDCard the content from galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip\SDCard (also read the documents from folder 'documents') 4. (with GPS disconnected from PC) Hardware RESET 5. (after you power up the GPS) insert SDCard 6. After application starts (an application with two buttons) press SuperUser button 7. press Yes every time you are asked (if you want to unlock UBOOT) 8. after you have the confirmation of the unlock Do a hardware RESET 9. (if you have the SDCard in GPS ... and you should have it ...) when you start the GPS you'll find a blue screen (this time its a good thing) and you have to navigate to 'wince upgrade' To navigate (down ... you can go only down) do a simple click on power button and to select press the power button for more than 1 sec. - probably 2..3 sec. (but not more then 6 sec. because you'll do a hardware reset) BTW: when you enter into blue screen please write down all those menus into a text file to have that information later on ... 10. Go to 'wince upgrade' \ 'wince by USB (quick)' if you want to keep the My Flash Disk OR 'wince by USB' if you want to format also My Flash Disk (I am not sure .. but something like that ...). To select something press for 2..3 sec.... Select the upgrade type (with or without format; your choice). If you had any problems with your My Flash Disk previously ... any type of problems ... is recommended to use the version that will format My Flash Disk (but make sure you have the recovery CD ... :) ) BTW: Write down also those menus :) 11. connect GPS to PC (using an USB cable) 12. a new hardware will be found ... you should choose "Advanced ..." and point the PC to install driver from folder galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip\PC\SEC_SOC_driver (alternatively if complains that "there is not compatible driver" you can try also galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip\PC\SEC_SOC_driver_other) 13. After install you should see on display that GPS received an USB address .. or something like that ... 14. start DNW.exe from galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip\PC\DNW 20. Check if on the form blue upper side there is written "USB : OK" ... that will show you that DNW is connected to GPS 21. Go to menu USB Transmit \ Transmit \ Transmit ... select winceimg.bin (downloaded previously) 22. WAIT ... the procedure will last about 1 min. check the GPS screen and after you see restart wait for another minute (to be sure that upgrade finished). 23. Press the power more than 12 sec. (to do a hardware RESET - but don't power up ...) 24. Remove SDCard from GPS 25. Disconnect USB cable from PC 26. Power up device (press more than 12 sec. power button) 27. You should insert the original CD and perform a recovery.
If you have any doubts or you didn't understood something ask before you start the procedure. I don't have to tell you that is dangerous what you are doing ...
