Anyone figured out a battery replacement for the nuvi 350?

lithium ion batteries degrade over time, and lose their ability to hold a charge. in hot environments lithium ion batteries degrade even faster.

garmin claims a 6 year battery life on the lithium ion battery in the nuvi. Unless garmin has some magical groundbreaking new lithium ion technology, that just isnt going to happen. Especially given the typical environment of a nuvi -- on the dash in the sun.

Well maybe garmin means "yeah the batteries will still be alive in 6 years, but they will only hold about 30 seconds worth of charge".

The $275 or so garmin repair fee to replace a battery is pretty ridiculous.

surely there has to be a cheaper, better way to get a nuvi 350 battery replaced.

Dang. If I had found that I wouldn't have bothered with mine. It's clearer and more concise than mine.

Mine does have a few closeups that show some details not show on that one. And it includes where I found the battery.

EDIT: I just added an link on my page to the page you posted. Some people may find it better. The more info someone has the better off they are. Thanks, Phill.

I have a webpage up with photos and instructions how to change the battery in the Nuvi 350. Easy if you are the least bit handy with tiny tools.

www.dacust.com/nuvi350/index.html

From the posts above I paid too much for mine, almost $30, but it works, now!

The link works better with less 'e's. :)

I looked up the 200, but didn't see anything about tools.?.

IMHO, $29 is a bit high for just the cell. The same battery is $18.50 on Ebay. (including S&H).
I'll bet that the cost will be 1/2 that in a couple of years.

That long? More like 18-24 months, which is about the length of time a unit stays in the Garmin lineup these days...at 3 years he's being very generous...

Really? Let's see, got the 2610 in 2004, got nüvi 760 today. 760 has faster startup, more sensitive (I.E., holds the signal), better display, bluetooth, traffic report, you can say 2610 is obsolete, but still useable.

The unit will be obsolete in 3 years. I have a 2610, looking to upgrade.
