To access this mode hold POWER and do not release it.
g7towin can access unit this mode and read/write some data (almanach, time, versions...)
Mapsource CAN NOT write maps in this mode, cause of nuvi limited capabilities. The main way to access maps - use USB Mass Storage Device Mode.
You can not revert firmware to older version using gupdate.gcd method.

HOW TO know what HWID you have in your nuvi:
1. disconnect usb
2. shift-and-hold power button
3. attach usb
4. let windows to detect and install your device
5. run g7towin
6. select menu gps-get gps id
7. find appropriate ID in the list

Hello, I have a garmin nuvi 245W ID1091 EU. When formatting is not successful, restart the nuvi does not work anymore. It restarts continuously and can not be detected by the PC. If I press the screen at the top left during startup, the nuvi is recognized by the computer for 30 seconds. This allowed me to use the updater to install http://e-trex.info/fw/nuvi/2x5w/fw_nuvi2x5W_ID1091_en_v600.rar. The upload is successful, but the Nuvi keeps rebooting as before and is not detected by PC.
What can I do?

I have follow your instruction, enter pre-boot mode and attach unit to the PC, from Device manager, I can find the Garmin device in list is working properly, I used g7towin to get the GPS id, and get the result "Nuvi 2 Series Software Version 5.00 ID:827, Unit ID: 355xxxxxxx; USB Comm via Bulk Pipe. My Nuvi's Problem is keep on rebooting with White Screen, I have tried to your first post ID 0827 6.10 version http://e-trex.info/fw/nuvi/2x5w/fw_nuvi2x5W_ID0827_en_v610+cure.rar, flash with cure firmware, but unable to proceed, because when flashed with the cure firmware, while "Erasing...." suddenly halt, and Error message display "The Garmin Device is unable to program the requested memory region. This could be due to an incompatibility between this application and the Garmin device, if the error continues to occur, please contact Garmin technical support."
I have tried a couple times, but still show the error message above while step of "Erasing....",
If I use Older Nuvi 255W firmware version 4.40, get this version boot.bin and mixed with your cure Fw_all v6.10, My nuvi 255w can be succeed update the cure firmware completely, but the outcome still the same, although it successful updating, but my Nuvi's problem still persist, keep on rebooting with White screen, When I checked again with G7towin, result that my nuvi still hold with Software version 5.00, no change at all. I am no idea why it still remain with the software version 5.00, by right after successful updating the cure firmware v6.10, the software version should be 6.10, I have almost give up to recover my Nuvi, unless you can give me more idea/suggestion, any other method to work for it. Do not format your gps, just delete the file you put into it.

Hello I ask your help please! I have a nuvi 205w (UNIT ID:930 syngapore)and with the idea to add italian language I removed all language .vpm files form internal memory and I put "Italiano__.vpm" as unic file into the voice folder. When I reebot the nuvi the unit continues to restart after "load map message", I can't connect the unit via usb because it restart so I can't remove the italian_.vpm voice file that causes this problem. I think if someone can make a cure firmware .rgn that can resolve this problem as I read in this post:

I think that i need the 7.10 CURE VERSION. My nuvi205w say "LOADER LOADING..." and the UPDATER.EXE show the 7.10 version.
That can be posible? |

my device is nuvi 260w, and had the system file missing hang on the device for two days, finally, find the clue what to do.
get your HWID.
the rgn file must have sgn after the numbers, otherwise, the updater will tell you, no software update available.
EDIT : the rgn file MUST HAVE SG after the numbers, NOT SGN, sorry for the typing mistake |

you must hold only the left upper corner of the screen and no power button.
Connect usb to pc,conect cable to nuvi and in the same time push finger on the left upper corner of the screen and hold.Now run updater.exe and reflash your nuvi or you can try with the cure .rgn for your unit. |

I could finally update the firmware with the updater.exe and i downloaded the 215w firmware from garniak´s site.
After the update was complete the screen went white. And it does nothing. It just stays white, the computer didnt recognize the unit and even i press the corners of the screen it just stays the same.
Is there any solution for this?

Hello guys..
I´ve already read the posts and the instructions but my nuvi 215w is not responding well.
It keeps restarting before loading the maps.
I tried what you say. If i hold the power button nothing happens. It just reboots.
But if i press the left upper corner of the screen while i hold the power button on, the unit does not try to load maps, and i hear the sound of Windows detecting an USB device. After that, the screen goes white and in the bottom left corner i can see a text saying press dot for one second. Then it restarts again.
So theres no way i can use the g7towin application, because the unit only stays on for a couple of seconds.
Any advice? |

Nuvi255W S4 Board HWID0827 has been successfully flashed with US HWID0827 v6.60 + Sg/My v3.10 firmware created with TurboCCC's RGN_Tool.
