City Navigator 2010 North America and Europe
Navteq 2008/Q4 (?) - nüMaps Onetime - nüMaps Lifetime

Check availability for your GPS system : >> link <<
nüMaps Onetime Europe : >> $129 << - nüMaps Lifetime Europe : >> $139 <<
nüMaps Onetime North America : >> $69 << - nüMaps Lifetime North America : >> $119 <<

UPDATED 20080409 : The CityNavigator NT 2010 North America and Europe maps are now available for download or purchase on DVD unde the nüMaps Lifetime or nüMaps Onetime programs ($129.99 for Europe). Here is a first user report by caryrae :

I am downloading the new update and looks like it's called 2010. This is the file name Garmin_RMU_CNNANT2010.exe. Why would they call it 2010? What will they call the the next update that comes out in a few months?
As a side note, Garmin's map numbering is perplexing since the first quarterly map update under the Lifetime program that was released on 01/21 was called 2009.1, so 2009.2 was expected for this version...

Reading topics like these and those for the 2010.20 and 2010.30 maps will give you a sense of what others think, I'd say that if you find yourself getting annoyed at outdated maps and possibly misdirected then the answer is "yes" ;-)

I have a Nuvi 660 and have never downloaded street maps. Is it worth the money to do so? Thanks

I found the same sort of problem in my area on Vancouver Island in Canada. Whole areas plainly marked as ferry routes in the straits between the island and the mainland show as going over land or at least not over water.

That's worrying indeed, let's see what they have to say!

The map viewer link posted by caryrae on page 9 of this thread now shows City Navigator North America NT 2010.10. I looked around my back yard and there was strangeness going on. I saw a small lake and half colored tan instead of blue, and the syracuse NY airport was missing half of the facility (like a square paper was placed on top of it hiding a part). I plan to call Garmin tomorrow and let you know what they say.

I am still using my street pilot c550 w/2009 on it. Amazon had a one day sale on the ,soon to be discontinued, Nuvi 780. The main reason I thought of a change was the 780s ability to route to several destinations. I figure I can use the 780 to see what I think of both the map update process and the 2010 maps themselves. If I like them, I keep the unit. If I don't like them, my wife gets a new GPS.

I have just bought two Nuvi 205's for my workplace vehicles - I too registered them on the website & was advised that there were new maps were available, but its been an absolute nightmare... It took an age to download the update, then another age to unpack it & then when I was told there was an error communicating with the server... <grrrr>

I'm now trying the 'unpacking the RAR' method to see how I get on!

Contacting Garmin UK has been 'an interesting experience!' Again, taking ages to answer call, then the representative telling me its an issue with my computer, not them... <double grrr>

Fingers crossed I can get this sorted!!!

I would like to hear from someone who upgraded from the 2009 maps to 2010 maps and, who feels that the upgrade was worth doing. Mostly, what I'm hearing is problems with the 2010 edition. I know that it's always easier to find fault, but it is possible that this edition is one to skip. (Are you listening Garmin?)

My question: Do the 2010 map updates include updated info for the I-10 corridor in Houston?

THanks for any assistance and my apologies for previously "misplacing" the question.

That's a real good question. There has been a ton of construction in the Houston area the last few years. For example the Nasa Parkway Bypass, is not on 2009 maps. FM rd 517 exit thinks you just get off freeway and turn on 517, it doesn't even reflect the feeder road exit, I'm sure there are many, many, more, including my house was built in 2002 and the closest thing to come up is about half block down the road from me. I have bought the last 2 years of map updates, but unless somebody from the houston area confirms that at least local updates to major roads/freeways is in there, I'm not buying again this year.

@ lochie101

I ran into the same issue as you on the last couple of map update installs. This is a common issue when you try to install on a drive that has "low" memory left on it. "Low" to Garmin is about 10GB. You're likely running out of disk space since the Garmin installer uses C: for everything...file extraction, setup, map installation, MapSource installation...you get the picture. There's no getting around this "forced on C:" limitation by Garmin either. Later on in the install process (after the decompression), it will give you the "option" to select which drive for the installation; even if you choose D:, nothing in fact gets installed there and everything goes on C:. Try to free up about 10GB before proceeding below.

Download/install WinRAR or 7zip (7zip is free). Rename the setup file you downloaded from Garmin to end with a .rar. Extract the contents of that file to another hard drive. From the extracted files, run setup.exe.

Hi,

I'm trying to download 2010 Europe map updates, it gets as far as extracting the files from the update manager but after that nothing happens. Any advice would be a grat help, I've never done this before?

I installed the new maps yesterday. PM or post here about what specifically you are looking for and I will check.

Last I checked a few days ago, the map viewer is showing the 2009 maps.

@ dpb1119:

Many thanks for helping keep us on track.

The map viewer on Garmin's web site is often out of date, so poke around with it and see if your I-10 updates are there. If so, you are good to go. If not, they may still be in the 2010 maps but it will require some help from someone who has them to verify (sorry; I don't).
