Update!
Good news: this correction is now included in map version 8.80, that I just added to my device. Very encouraging since this is such a remote area (there can't be many TomTom owners driving down that particular road), and I'm almost certain that nobody would ever bother to report that type of error in the area (most people driving around there probably know exactly where they are, and where they are going on such small rural roads). I suppose I'll have to report a few more errors if I find them when I next drive there (which will be soon enough)!
Interesting, though: it still doesn't show up in routes.tomtom.com (TomTom's route planner). There must be some delay before that service starts using the latest maps, not immediately after release as one might have thought.
EDIT: The corrected map now shows in both the link posted earlier to the report, and in routes.tomtom.com.
There is also a new map reporting tool for TomTom maps (I think they're dropping the TeleAtlas name):

Nice story and indeed quite unexpected! It seems they didn't have to survey it to make the change, possibly because in some cases (remote areas?) they can rely on satellite maps. But yes, let's see how long it takes to make it to the maps, both on GPS devices and on MapInsight. |

I got a bit of a shock a little while ago!
After reading this thread, I went to check out some maps in a remote area that I visit once or twice a year at least (it's in Colorado). I've been there with both my Garmin and my TomTom. Neither have all of the small windy country roads and junctions quite where they are supposed to be. To be fair, I would not expect anyone to actually get lost, but care is needed when making suggested turns if there is a lot of snow on the ground, in case the road is not where the map suggests it is.
Anyway, after visiting this thread back in February, I immediately went to check one of the errors I knew about, and sure enough, it was still there (one year after I first noticed it). So, I decided to try the new URL in the first post of this thread, and see what happened. I immediately got an e-mail noting that my correction had been received. I thought then that it would be a miracle if I heard back within a year, or even two.
Well, oh ye of little faith, on March 8 (about two weeks later), I got another e-mail stating
"Thanks! We were able to use your input to improve our maps. This update will go out in our next release of our map database. This report is now closed."
I nearly dropped dead and went straight to heaven (or hell) on the spot. There was also a link to my report, which should work:

Where you see CR 513, right in the center of the screen, take the first turn right and down to a dead end (when travelling from the left of the screen): it should actually be a T-junction, CR 513 should also turn left and up to join the other road right above it, not just down and right. I was able to insert a pinpoint of the location when I made the report, but the pinpoint doesn't show up when following that link.
This particular error is actually correct in Navteq maps, by the way, even if they do have their share of errors and missing roads in that area!
As far as the interface goes, well, it's a bit tricky to use if you don't have a specific address to locate the error. I did not since there are no postal addresses in that area and no postal delivery either - you have to have a P.O. Box at the local Post Office (which is very cute!). In such cases, you will need to be quite a good map reader to pinpoint the location manually, while manipulating the screen. Other than that, it's actually quite a simple process.
Now we'll see how long it takes for a correction to make it onto a map release! That would be another miracle in the making. I may be "of little faith" but "seeing is believing" where maps are concerned! |

Hey, I wouldn't complain if I were you! At least it means they actually do something with the reports, and were able to link the correction to your report after such a long period.
I sent corrections to Navteq and Garmin back in 2007, and I haven't heard a thing ever since. The correction I was requesting is clearly visible on Google maps. It must be difficult for them to process all the corrections effectively. |

LOL: I made a Mapinsight report in August 2009; I just got an email TODAY (2/24/11) that they verified my report and the change would go out in the next quarterly update!

I received notification from Tele a couple of months ago, that they received and are working on an issue I sent to them . They sent me an email with a link to see how far along (not very) they are . I have had success in my dealings with Navteq as well. My dealings with Verizon with their V-Cast hit a dead end. They told me to contact my local Town officials and have them send the information to Verizon. Has anyone else had this experience?? |

No, never seen anything I reported get fixed, either by TeleAtlas via MapInsight or Navteq via MapReporter, as was feared when these services were launched they appear to be "marketing tools", unless I got unlucky ! |

Anyone have any experience with reporting to Teleatlas Map Insight and getting things fixed?
I made a report and they basically blew me off (see my post here. )
Am I doing something wrong? The problem I'm reporting doesn't fit neatly into one of their problem categories, and I suspect that the 1st level support people looking at the reports are simply putting my report into their circular file. |

My development is 10 years old, here in Mass. Just checked the teleatlas site and the street I am on is shown as a loop and the adjoining street is totally missing. I think this was the builders original plans. I put in a correction. It will be interesting to see how long it actually takes teleatlas to correct it. |

I just looked at the TeleAtlas site. Their maps are still not showing some of the roads I noticed are missing on my MIO. Most of these are 7 years old or more. Also, NAVTEQ shows many of them right. So for me at least, NAVTEQ is better. Now I just need to find a device that uses navteq maps, and has what I need.
Two that I've tried are the garmin nuvi200 and the NAVIGON 2100.
the nuvi won't show my speed on the map page while on a route and the navigon has a routing problem... |

If you haven't checked out the vans in action you should look at the YouTube video. I can see how they continue to improve on the accuracy of their maps each year. Pretty interesting technology.

Unfortunately, http://uwmike.com/maps/source/ does not seem to work anymore. Only TeleAtlas data is displayed.
However, comparing it to other sites shows more details in Google and Live (both say map data (c) Navteq).

I'm just in the process of looking at MapFactor PC Navigator, a Laptop PC navigation software which comes with Teleatlas map data. A few months ago I had a brief look at Novogo 700BT, a PND using Teleatlas maps. In my very limited ability to judge this (my driving is limited to mostly in and around the Toronto area), I've noticed some similarities in routing between these two Teleatlas based products. They both have a slightly higher tendency not to keep me on main roads, and routing me through smaller local roads. This doesn't happen too often, and perhaps there may be some logic to it on occasion, but I haven't experienced this yet with a Navteq based product. So I still tend to favour Navteq, but credit has to be given to Teleatlas for a substantial improvement of its data over the past few years. |

Do you feel that Teleatlas has better coverage in Canada than Navteq?
It was not the case a year or so ago.
