Hi, i´ve adquired a GPS from eBay. Model E4330i. I found a "trick" to enter in Windows, but i got a problem, when i try to run any program, Windows give me an error message: "Cannot find xxx (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries ae avaliable."

I thought its was a DLL problems, but problem persists....

So i want to ask if i would install another Windows Mobile, if i need to dump the device´s ROM (and how) or if i only got to search and install DLLs ??

I put its features:

Processor: Samsung 400 Mhz (ARM926T-AT4X0A) Sirf Atlas III
RAM: 64 Mb
OS: Windows CE 5.0
Screen: 4,3"
Other features: Bluetooth , MiniUSB, SD up to 2 Gb, FM

and here a screenshot:

BTW, i think my device is a clon from Aocos T410C, look:

Aocos T410C

And this is another from HiFast, its the same?

If you wanna know how to enter in Windows´explorer, check this video:

Thanks

Hi Saeed,

Sorry to hear about your problem and for the delay in responding to you. Between my PC dying and the holidays, this is the first opportunity I have had to answer your question. I assume you have contacted the supplier for any help??? Also, is the GPS unit still under warranty? If so, send it back for an exchange, otherwise, below is a copy of a previous post of mine.

The following file is to restore an E4330i+ (4.3" GPS with Bluetooth - NO FM) from itStore07. I am aware that there are a number of identical units out there from different suppliers and the GPS units feature different model numbers. In short, there is no guarantee that this will work but as your GPS is already bricked, no further harm can be done.

Download file from http://www.sendspace.com/file/0nfghk and unpack onto a SD card which has been formatted in FAT format.

Insert SD card into GPS and while holding the ON/OFF button, depress the RESET button. After about 10 - 15 seconds, the screen will announce that the UPDATE PROCESS has begun. You can now let go of the ON/OFF button. There are 4 updates which will happen automatically (some go quicker than others) and the screen will eventually display "Update Process 4/4 and 100% after about a minute. Once again, depress the RESET button and (hopefully) all will now work fine.

Please note, I believe there are two versions of the E4330i+. The first was issued with a blue background menu and the second later version was issued with a black background menu. I don't know if it matters but theoreticly, this will leave you with the BLACK background menu.

Hope this recovers a few bricked E4330i+'s out there. Let me know (and which version GPS you had), as it will be nice to see how many "GPS lifes" have been recovered......

Please note that the E4330i is the GPS with Bluetooth AND FM while the E4330i+ is the GPS with Bluetooth ONLY. Go figure??? This file is for the E4330i+. While the file may work to restore the GPS, it will more than likely not restore the menu with the FM option.

Hope this works. Let me know.

Good Luck

Hey All,

I am hoping you will be able to help me as I am struggling to find the information I need anywhere else.

Basically I brought one of these China GPS/PNA units;

and while it worked great I decided to have a play and have messed it up a little

While it is working, after a lot of playing around with the registry I would like to return it to as new out the box again and have the files I need for recovery in the future.

My unit has no BT but has the FM transmitter and the menu I have reads from left to right;

GPS ~ Music ~ Video ~ Photo ~ Ebook and on the next page Setting.
I mention this as it seems there are a few different menu's as proven by my dads same looking unit.

Now, I have read that I can unmount the smaller flash partition, format it and then reboot the unit which will rewrite the unit again. But I have followed all the instructions on how to do this, using an SD card and going at it through WinCE etc. but it just will not let me do it.
Also I have failed to find a firmware for my unit and get it to work, not even the ones I have found have even attempted to work.

Can anyone help and offer me advice to refresh my GPS?

Thanks.

Ian

I was able to upload both of Freedom321's packs onto an SD card & update my E4330i+ successfully. Black menu and all. Thanks.

BUT, I would like to know if its possible to access Windows CE 5.0, as this model has it locked out. I'd like to install other applications, and mess around with Windows, etc. Anyone?

Hi,

My friend bought same GPS E4330i from EBAY few months ago. He has accidently dropped it and the LCD is cracked. GPS works but the touch screen doesn't work. I am going to replace the LCD to fix this. Does anybody have a faulty unit with good LCD? Would you like to give/sell to me for a reasonable price? You need to post to Sydney, Australia and I will pay all the cost to you. I can pay through PayPal or any other method before you send the item to me. Members please try to help me on this.

Thanks.

guys, does anyone know how to unlock the chinese wince 4.2 GPS?

thanks!
mbon Posted - 21 oct. 2008 : 12:23:54
hi rick, I'm gonna try the link and guide from pda4x to run garmin XT on the device. anyway, how do you unlock the device rick? do you have any program to unlock the device with you?

oyea, I don't know why but I can't access navsoon page from my country (Australia)

cheers!

No you'll have to modify IGO 8 to work on this device. Someone posted a "PNA ready" version in another forum. I'll find the link and send it to you.

All I know is that Win ce 5.0 needs MS Activesync and you see your GPS as a mobile device in "my Computer".
In 4.2 the device shows up as a drive.

As happy as I am with IGo and BTW. FM transmitter and all other features works flawlessly, I still think Garmin is the biggest fish in the pond. For Garmin XT you'll need to run it after you're logged on to wince . Check out Navsoon GPS forum for instruction.I spent a couple of hours last weekend on this but was not successful.

Recently bought two of these and installed IGO 8 on them. I like them better than 4330i that I had before.

Are you sure yours is running on wince 5.0, because mine has Wince 4.2 a (no Activesync).

really rick? wow I'm glad someone bought the same device :) how do you install IGO 8? just copy it directly to the SD card?
and did you manage to unlock the device? if you do, mind sharing the guide of how to unlock it? does your FM transmitter work well?

cheers!

hey guys thanks a lot for the quick reply. I haven't brick it though, I am looking for a guide of how to dump my rom. just in case something happened becoz I'm going to try install garmin mobile XT in the device.

anyway, what's the different between WinCE 4.2 and 5? I saw other seller's item which is the same item with different color (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-4-3-TFT-GPS-Map-Mp3-Mp4-2G-SD-card-FM-TRANSMITTER_W0QQitemZ190260324461QQihZ009QQcategoryZ34288QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
. that seller said the product is running WinCE5.0 so I assume the GPS I bought is running WinCE5.0 too.

anyway, thanks alot rick and freedom :)

oyea, I got some guide of how to unlock WinCE device (I hope this works with other devices), I haven't try it though, just wanna post it here just in case someone's curious of how to unlock the device.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=150303890452
it's WITH FM transmitter and NO Bluetooth running WinCE 5.0 as well

btw, if i installed miopocket on this device, will it disable features such as bluetooth and FM transmitter?

Hi there,

Yes I agree with Rick, the flash files would be unlikely to work on your model of GPS BUUUTTT if it is already bricked and you can't get the correct flash file from the supplier, give it a go and let us know....

Good luck!
