I don't know if it was posted here before but today I received some info on the new Nuvi 7x5 coming at the end of this year.
The EU version had City Navigator 2009 NT pre-loaded and it contains 3D views of lots of building in large cities in the EU. Just like TeleAtlas has but Navteq has WAY more buildings, over 3000 famous buildings.
It also has the Navigon-ish lane guide information
I wasn't allowed to scan the screenshots (it was a demo on paper) and I don't know if it was mentioned before but I just got back from a long holiday so I am no up to date :D |

Posted - 23 févr. 2012 : 19:22:46 so far every update after 4.0 was a dud. I experienced random lock ups and reboots with 4.2 and 4.3 and every time after trying an update went back to 4.0. I'm sure that Garmin knows that 7x5 have faulty firmware and keeps trying to fix it. For me biggest here is
*Fixed an error that occasionally caused the unit to shut down.
I'll give 4.4 a try and can always go back to 4.0 if 4.4 is another unstable release. |

Posted - 21 févr. 2012 : 20:05:46 When Garmin lost my confidence is when they fixed touch screen (few firmwares back) but completely disabled voice in Language Travel Guide. Before that firmware LTG was working perfectly: pronounced all words and sentences in all supported languages. After introduction of new firmware, pronunciation stopped. Garmin advised that they will NOT be fixing that issue and I cannot get refund for Garmin Retail product (SD card with LTG) because I did not buy it from them but from retail store. Product will still translate but what is a point of written text when it does not talk??? Thank you Garmin for wasting my money and fantastic support of your products. Imagine having your car updated and upssss! power locks and windows stop working. Sorry, not essential; engine is still working... |

I agree. I didn't think we would see any further updates for these models. Anyone think we'll see anything beyond this?

Posted - 15 févr. 2012 : 23:02:59 Looks like we need to get SergZak to add the gmapsup1.img name to his map naming sticky. |

Change History Changes made from version 4.30 to 4.40:
*Fixed an error that caused the device to find no results when the user changed state or province during address searches (2010 maps only). *Added support for a second map on an SD card. *Fixed an error that caused the device to not find streets that were spelled with a diacritic ß, instead of ss *Fixed an error that caused the wrong time to display on the World Clock page. *Added the missing ?Z? on Latvian keyboards. *Improved the accuracy of route calculations. *Fixed an error that occasionally caused the unit to shut down. *Fixed an error that caused the device to detect the wrong keyboard. *Fixed an error that prevented the device from accessing certain POIs while the unit was searching. *Fixed an error that caused the unit to display the arrival time as off by one hour when on routes that crossed time zones.
Unlimited maps would be ideal, but I hope at least the added support for a second map on an SD card is in the next version of nuvi765_HWID1007_TWN firmware. BTW... gmapsup1.img is the name used for the second map on an SD card. |

Posted - 16 août 2010 : 18:14:34 Are you asking about the diagnostic screens? If so, on the main menu screen, press and hold the battery meter icon (or the location where it would normally be next to the time). |

Posted - 31 juil. 2010 : 01:06:52 I made the jump from version 3.8 to 4.0 and I am pleased with this update. Along with fixing the annoying touch screen errors and improved response, they fixed two other problems that were annoying me. It no longer jumps to the next track on the mp3 player after playing a proximity alert and now it displays the ID of the caller when I receive a call on my iPhone. All I need now is for them to have the bluetooth reconnect after losing the connection with the phone. |

Posted - 16 juil. 2010 : 20:01:41 I have narrowed this down (the delay in map display) to MP3 files. It is apparently building the MP3 index before displaying the map. If I remove my SD card containing my MP3 audiobooks, the map displays right away. I have read about this issue on other models, but my 755T never behaved this way before firmware 4.0 |

I have noticed after upgrading to 4.0 on my 755T that it is very slow to display the map after booting up (30 or more seconds). I get this delay whether or not I have a satellite lock. Once it displays the first map, the map panning, redraw/refresh, etc. appear to operate at normal speed, but getting that first map takes a while.
My 755T did this the first time I used it after upgrading. Since then, it's been very fast loading up. |

Posted - 16 juil. 2010 : 00:52:11 On my 755 FW 4.00, (have checks on both CN North America NT 2011.10 3D and CN North America NT 2011.10 (1) Cayman... Bahamas... Mexico... (2) US & Canada) Battery or Powered, with or w/o Satellite Lock; it is aproximately twenty seconds from switched on to display of "agree" screen, a tap on Agree and then "Show Map" instantly shows Map page and then less than five seconds for the local Streets, Parks and Waterways to populate the screen. |
