UPDATED 20080328 Posted by ZX14NINJA in another thread : "The V2009 N/A maps have been announced today for May release. Update DVD's will be available then and I suspect that most units being shipped from Garmin in late April will have the V2009 maps pre-installed. Pricing is $69.95 USD from Garmin."

"We are making our map data even better! The North America 2009 map update is scheduled for release in late April. Check back to order a map update for your product."
That's as obvious as it gets. A new map is coming for my Nuvi. Whether or not I have to pay for it for the 760 I bought in December is anyone's guess.
I was just talking to a Garmin rep who said that the new 2009 maps will be out in May.
Does that mean that I should wait until May to buy my Nuvi 750 to make sure I get one with the new map.
He said that if I bought a Nuvi now , I would have to buy the new map in May.
I am not sure if I should wait.
Any thoughts ??
Thanks in advance,

Just for your information 2010 is following in Garmin's past naming wierdness. The NA map update in 2007 was called 2008, and the one in 2008 was called 2009. This didn't make a great deal of sense when there was only an annual update, with quarterly ones it makes even less.

Thanks for the news, under nuMaps lifetime ? Looks like it's going to be a big headache then especially since these are possibly Navteq Q4/2008 maps...I'll start a new thread, please repost over there, here we go : http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=124763

Someone mentioned in another thread that they had also been told by a rep that the maps would be available this week. The question is what the new maps will be called, hopefully 2009.2 (to stay consistent with the nuMaps quarterly update) or maybe NT2010/2009.2...-> http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=124306

I D/L'd my free updated map yesterday. MyGarmin.com says I D/L'd CNNA NT 2009.10 Limited. My 255w says the map is CN NA NT 2009.11. Which is correct & why the diffent version #s (& why is the first one Limited?)?

The update numbers were 2009.1 then 2009.11. See http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=122310

2009.11? There were 11 updates this year with CN 2009?

Since the glitches with CN NA NT 20091.x have been reported resolved by the SW 5.00 update, I decided to D/L my free map update today (I updated to SW 5.00 yesterday). The update went smoothly & not nearly as long as has been reported by others. My total time for D/L'ing, extracting, updating minor files & installing the new map (CN NA NT 2009.11) was 1 hour 50 mins. FWIW

With Garmin's nuMaps/nuMaps Lifetime, Garmin -should- be putting out four map updates per year. Because of this, the schedule may have changed for the actual release dates but it's probable (not definite though) that a new update will be out in May...but then again, no one knows for sure.

great - thanks so much! do they usually come out by May?
||Posted - 27 févr. 2009 : 19:35:39
Sure you can. In fact, once the new map version comes out, the previous version won't even be available any longer.
