EDIT BY GPSPASSION 20070524 Thought I would start a thread to contain these.. ALL AT YOUR OWN RISK!! If none of this makes sense, don't do it. Don't blame me.
Reading about the mods for the other MIOs, seems like a lot can be done. There are probably a lot more, but this is my first. BTW, seems like this device is "unlocked" as I can get to the files to copy and replace. I guess the other MIOs couldn't do that without a hack being done. Others know more than I do on that subject.
HACK #1 How to turn on the Export button so track logs can be exported...
Hack into the "tracking_480_272.ui" file.
First of all download the data.zip file from your device (under \MIOMAP\MioMap.) KEEP A BACKUP...
1] Unzip your data.zip 2] Find tracking_480_272.ui. 3] Find the line "<BUTTON btn_track_export x=133 y=232 text="Export" bmp="btn_bott65.bmp#3" align="center" w=58 valign="center+4" fontsize=12 fonttype=buttonlabel1 onrelease='run sc_export_current_track' hide>" 4] Remove these 5 characters near the end " hide" so it looks like "..._track'>" 4] save the file. 5] re-zip your data files back to data.zip (mind the directory structure!) 6] copy data.zip back to your device.
Your button should now appear under the track info screen. Pretty cool! Exports a .gpx file to your SD card (gotta have one) under a directory called \tracks.
Enjoy, and add to the thread. |

Lol. I already did. In fact I did over this past weekend via paypal. I'm just afraid something might go wrong if I add those in the skins folder.
I don't intent to customize the overrides, I just want to drag/drop and that's it. So I thought since it's working for you, then it should prolly work for me w/no hiccups..let me know if it's still possible. Thanks
OK, I see. I have not made any alterations at all to the overrides. I have just placed them in the SKIN folder.

Posted - 19 sept. 2009 : 10:34:02 This is for JD (and anyone else who wanna help...) I have been working on a 480x272 skin for the IGO2006SE editions (cydle, navngo, etc)... (available at http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=129502 ) I would like to either port the JD skin to the 2006SE or use parts of it in my skin. Is that possible (permission?)
Thanks! Bill Martin magicmanskin@yahoo.com

Thank you a lot for that information on the MioMap Jan 2008 SW! It just worked like a charm and fixed the missing audio mute button:-)
You are welcome.
The recent hardwareiderror thread was much shorter then this 300+ page thread. There are links to the software upgrades in this thread, (I remember one from TheRock somewhere before page 100) but finding them is hit-or-miss even with searching.
There were several different software versions... 3.3 July 5 2007, 3.3 September 2007, and others.
Jerry's site has a list of +'s and -'s for them.
Regards, Mark |

Hi, Jerry, Wondering if you might have a solution to another "nag" I have w/MioMap. On the history screen of previous routes, it would be great to delete individual routes. Often out of 15 or so routes there is "one" I'd like to use again, but only see an option to "delete all" - hate the clutter but often do "delete all" and re-input the one I wanted to use again. Anything I'm overlooking, or something you might consider adding? Guess another option would be to "protect" a route from the "delete all" command.
Thanks for all your terrific efforts for the C520!

Posted - 27 juil. 2009 : 21:29:53 Jerry, the firmware is v3.3 April 16 2007, which is really weird, since I thought I had the latest available firmware from Mio. Is there any place I can download the firmware from July 2007?
Update: it has now been confirmed that it is the newest firmware that I have. The Miomap.exe is not dependent on this, I suppose, but on what version of Miomap.exe is on the included installation dvd from Mio, as far as I can reckon. I have two such DVDs. After having installed both of them, the one dvd gives me a Miomap.exe dated April 16 2007, the other gives March 26 2007. So none of them are dated July 5th 2007, and I assume I would have to get hold of a newer installation dvd for this to happen. Not so likely, so perhaps I will just live with the version I have. Strange about the audio mute button though, but it seems to be a difficult problem to solve.. |

Posted - 27 juil. 2009 : 20:01:07 Jerry,
I have not progressed yet to the level of using overrides, but I am looking into it.
About MioMap.exe, I don't get the version number, when I go into MyFlashDisc/MioMap/MioMap, find the file, and then right-click and get the properties of it. Is there another wa to get it? When MioMap boots, it states MioMap 3.
I have unlocked the device, with the help of G_Atlin here, and then I have used the IBootformatans405_WEU firmware-update from Mio, that I have downloaded previously (all firmware downloads for the C520 seems to have disappeared from Mio's website), which contain version R37.3.9931.0816. That is the same firmware as can be found on this site. Do I need another firmware-version? I thought the mentioned firmware version was the newest available release from Mio, and previously, before doing an upgrade to Mios new Moov firmware and subsequent downgrade, it did give an audio mute button on the main navigation display. |

Posted - 27 juil. 2009 : 19:20:48 Peter, You'll need to provide more details. Miomap.exe must be v3.3 dated 2007'7 or later (what is it?) Do you use overrides? (SKIN folder) |

To add a mute button to the map screen, follow the procedure above, but make a few more file modifications listed below (credit to aozeel?, taken from the french pages.)
Places the button above the bluetooth button:
Data.zip: To modify the file: mio \ common \ ui \ default_setup.ui From: runif vDeviceType “MIOC520” “spr_status_sound.hide” runif vDeviceType “MIOC520” “btn_muted.hide” runif vDeviceType “MIOC520” “spr_IVTState.show” runif vDeviceType “MIOC520” “uibtn_IVTState.show”
To:
; runif vDeviceType “MIOC520” “spr_status_sound.hide” ; runif vDeviceType “MIOC520” “btn_muted.hide” runif vDeviceType “MIOC520” “spr_IVTState.show” runif vDeviceType “MIOC520” “uibtn_IVTState.show”
Data.zip: To modify the file: mio \ 480_272 \ ui \ map_layers_480_272.ui
From: <SPRITE spr_IVTState x=289 y=153 z=2 bmp= " $status_ivr_onmap.spr " phase=1 hide> <BUTTON uibtn_IVTState x=278 y=143 z=1 bmp= " circle.spr " alpha=20 fontsize=12 color=#808080 onclick=' IVT_BLUETOOTH_CLICK' hide>
To: <SPRITE spr_IVTState x=289 y=194 z=2 bmp= " $status_ivr_onmap.spr " phase=1 hide> <BUTTON uibtn_IVTState x=278 y=184 z=1 bmp= " circle.spr " alpha=20 fontsize=12 color=#808080 onclick=' IVT_BLUETOOTH_CLICK' hide>
When I do this on my Mio C520, the unit gets a fatal error, while loading MioMap. Anyone has some experience with fixing this? Is the above code still valid with the firmware-update from July 5th 2007; it was written shortly before that.
PS: I did try Jerrys newest skin from www.miopassion.com, but there I also encountered a fatal error, when MioMap was booting. Error-message was: FFUI error: FFUIERROR: Code=8
Any idea what is wrong? |

Posted - 24 juil. 2009 : 18:09:02 AS I recall, Jan'08 and Sep'07 Miomap.exe release behaves differently in reference to POIs. I'm using July'07 and consider it he best (missing extra PIS icons, but better POI buffer management and is not licking-up). Also, the behaviour (performance) will vary depending on maps.
BTW, few days ago my website was hijacked. I hope nobody was affected. Should be all clean now. Chrome and Firefox blocked the "bad" links instantly. IE let it run - be advised.
