Out of curiosity, is the US map the same size on the 5100 as it is on the 2100? I though the 5100 (and 7100) were supposed to contain more POI's, but I could be misremembering.
No the maps for the 5100 is bigger than the 2100 , this is because they are US + canada combined , the Alaska , Hawaii & Puerto Rico maps are separate files .
Could you tell me where i can get the 5100 sd card like you had? Thanks in advance! |

I tried this and it did not work. I get "Insert the memory card" message and when I reset the device, it hangs on the welcome screen.
Did anybody else try this yet??

The only file that I am sure would not work on the 2100 is the MN6.exe from the 5100 (as we were informed when doing upgrade not to long ago) but I am not sure about the Autorunce. I only kept 2 files from the 2100 the MN6.exe(updated) and the Autorunce(again file was the same size on both units but I was not sure exactly what this file did so I kept the one from the 2100. Everything else was from the 5100. This did work fine I have not had any issues with my unit since the upgrade. I also seem to have features of the 5100 that I did not have before. If you just copy the map files and not the POI and reality view there may be coflicts (files have different names). I copied all of these and it all seems to work fine. I also saved everything on my computer and did not erase anything off the original cards.
My guess would be that the 7100 files would work. My primary reason for this line of thought is that in March Navigon plans to start selling software that is not available on the lower end models also now looking at the above post thats what G Moore stated.

Posted - 29 févr. 2008 : 20:48:02 Frys Electronics has a 2GB OCZ high performance 150X SD card on sale for $15 , just picked 1 up & I could see the difference compared to the 60X SD card I was using. |

Posted - 26 févr. 2008 : 21:16:45 Thanks. The Navigon web site simply says the non-quantitative statement "millions of POI's" for all three units. I have the feeling now that all three use the same map set (given the apparent interchangeabiity of map files between units per other discussions). |

Posted - 25 févr. 2008 : 23:05:12 The 5100 SD card came in today , got it working !!! Here's what I did : copied the entire contents of the 2100 card to desktop , did the same on the 5100 card . Created a new folder on desktop , dragged & dropped the MN6 (latest update files downloaded from Navigon's site) and the Autorunce from the 2100 folder , then dragged & dropped the RealityView , POI , Alaska map , Hawaii map , Puerto Rico map & US and Canada maps from the 5100 folder . Copied this new folder to a 2 GB SD card , inserted it in the unit & turned it on ...now I got a 2100 body with a 5100 maps . Took it for a spin , worked beautifully . |

Posted - 23 févr. 2008 : 20:43:06 I orgianlly tried copying over the files from 5100 card to the 2100 with no success..
My plan was to see if I can get Lane Assistant to work on the 2100.
Anyways I did get the US/Canada maps copied over to the 2100 (took a long time 50 min or so, as someone else reported) but this is how I did it.
So I copied all the info from 2100 and 5100 over to the Desktop.
I copied the map & poi files from the 5100 folder to the 2100. Renamed the 5100 maps/poi file to whatever the 2100 files were labeled as.
Deleted the "old/original" 2100 files and now the "new/5100" files were on the 2100.
Copied everything from the 2100 folder back to the device and map read the US states and Canada files.. cant really see a difference in the POI listing because there was on a difference of 300kb between the 2100/5100 (difference being the Canada POI proably)

Posted - 23 févr. 2008 : 16:00:29 The Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and USA and Canada maps will all fit on a 2GB card. You will have about 19MB free space left. Keep the 2100 MN6 folder and autorunce. The POI folder and the RealityView folder contain the info for the new maps, copy them onto the card. Then the map files. The traffic will still work. The maps from the 5100 or the 7100 will work. Do all of this on a spare card. Keep Your original card intact. |
