Posted - 21 nov. 2007 : 01:02:20 Hi all,
I'm sorry if this looks spam, but I thought that I could post here some information about the program that I wrote just in case somebody could be interested. (the program is free)
There is already a long post about this program in the xda-developers developeres forum so if you want more information you can visit this link
Thanks!
DESCRIPTION : I have been trying for a while to find some GPS tracking programs that work fine but most of them are buggy and not very accurate. That's why I decided to write my own!
Features:
- Display real time tracks with Google Earth - You can create your own trips and see them later in Google Earth. Trips are stored in a database so you will not lose any data. - Offline mode. The GPS locations will be stored in a file and you can upload them at anytime later. - Ability to store GPS positions locally and remotely. - You can find other people near you that are also using TrackMe. - Ability to export to KML files that can used with Google Maps or Google Earth. - GPS power saving.
HOW TO USE YOUR OWN SERVER By default, you can use TrackMe with my server free of charge. TrackMe is already configured to use this server. However, if you want to use your own server, jcleek wrote an installation package for TrackMe. Download Installation Package (Thanks jcleek)
LATEST UPDATES 11/20/07 - Fixed problem generating local KML file and regional settings - When using remote server, if timeout occurs it will retry 2 times. After that, it won't try again until 2 minutes later (I may change this in the future so you can specify your own default values)
11/19/07 - Fixed problem with Regional Settings when reading Altitude.
11/18/07 - Speed and Altitude has been added. - Offline data is now stored in a local database. - Added option to autostart the process when the application starts.
11/14/07 - Notification of errors have been improved. - When started, the program was always using the default server instead of the one specified in Config->Remote.
TO-DO LIST - Export to GPX files - Export text to different languages. - Support for Smartphones. - Add a "forced position" update and display it with a different color. (add comments too) - Offline data - should automatically upload when internet connection is reestablished and should not require you to STOP data collection. - Manual trip reset option to force deletion of previous data. - Add and option to turn off the GPS and turn off device between uploads. - Disable all hardware keys except the power button when the screen is turned off.
