When I try to power up my MIO C310x, I get a blue screen with the following

UTool S2x0_F R36 1GB
0=WINCE Upgrade
1=UBOOT Upgrade
2=BT Test
3=Other Tools
Choice 0

I can't select anything, and soft and hard resets do nothing.

What do I do?

Looks like my c310 was empty. I followed the instructions of "g_alin" link: http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=127723

and used file for c310: C310_ENG_EEU_RUS (R36F.3.1100.0702)
http://www.4shared.com/file/129464116/7e2a285f/C310_ENG_RUS_ROM_R36F311000702.html

Thx guys!!!

Is it possible that flash disk on mio is now empty and that is why is always returning to Utools??

If it's that, where can I find WinCE 4.2 installation files (so I can put new wince 4.2 or 5.0 on device through Utools na SD card)?

Sotf reset is on the other side of device... not near the hard reset...

No, it doesn't solve the problem. But once you have the unit apart, you can check and maybe fiddle with the soft reset contacts to see if they are shorted. Figure 4 of the article you found shows the "hard reset" switch. As I recall, the "soft reset" recessed button is right next to it. If those contacts are shorted, then every time you power the unit up with the hard reset button you will enter the Utility menu ! I don't have my units handy to do anything further (I'm on travel), but you should be able to at least see if anything is shorting those contacts "permanently". If so- remove the short.

Here is "How to" remove battery from mio c310... but this doesn't solve the problem of exiting the utool s2x0_F R36 512MB

Hi Supremo,

looks like I can't find it... sorry... Can you find it please.

So, I have to take the unit apart, detach battery for few minutes and than reassemble everything?

It should work?
Supremo Posted - 10 oct. 2010 : 02:39:50
This may be a long shot, but if you look on page 1 of this topic you'll see the way to "force" a C310x to do this. It's possible that your soft reset button is "stuck" and is forcing this behavior. You mind want to search out the topics within Mio forum, as I recall there are directions as how to take the unit apart and reassemble. I think it was under a topic about speaker repair. If you can't find it I'll try to dig it up in my archives when I have time.

Yeah, has anybody tried to upgrade this device to wince 5.0 or 6.0?
