 For those who own a Mio A201, I've written, for my own use, a little application largery inspired from GPSRedirect... It allows to redirect GPS data (default: COM2) to the Bluetooth port (default: COM7). Microsoft .Net Compact Framework 2 must be installed. It can be freely downloaded and used, at your own risk, I don't make any support.I've tested it with SiRFDemo on my PC and it works!

Here is V. 1.5:
* Compatibility with Windows Mobile 2003 (already present in 2nd 1.4 version).
* "What is my IP" function improved for GPRS (already present in 3rd 1.4 version).
* Function to decipher geocaching hint.

* Incoming commands and resets work with GID.
V. 1.3 beta:
* Functions du reset SiRF chipset.
* Option to correct longitude/latitude returned by bugged GID.

Quickstart on A201 and A701:
1. Create new Bluetooth incoming port on the Mio (COM7 on A201 and COM8 on A701)
2. Launched GPS2blue with
- A201 : GPS:COM2 Speed: 4800 and BT:COM7
- A701 : GPS:COM2 Speed: 57600 and BT:COM8
3. GPS2blue returns : BT not connected, waiting
4. Discovered and paired the A201/A701 from my PC (COM 6)
5. Launched VisualGPS and the data started coming through.

I met the same situation before. I found out the localhost receive the data from Active Sync with the help of some free TCP/IP monitor utility program. With the known IP address, you can use other free TCP/serial program instead of HW virtual serial port program which limits to create only one com port. Also, the HW virtual serial port program listen to other IP address with the same port number, and get error data if IP address is set 0.0.0.0. This can be avoid with the known IP address.
If you are unluck that the localhost IP address is assigned with other value, you can try to use IP address resolve program to find it out.

Thanks for your information. That solved my first problem.
I just advanced one more step to solve the "waiting for bluetooth to be enabled" error by using port splitter to split COM1: port to an unsed COM3: port and set the GPS2blue to open the COM3: port. The byte# is increasing now.
If my observation is correct, you display the above error message when GPS2blue can not open the GPS comm port, no matter the comm port is not ready or is already busy (opened by other program). The latter is my case. Hence, I would suggest the error message is quite misleading. The situation may be improved if you implement the way to read GPS comm port same as port splitter.
I have the last problem to solve in order to use GPS2blue. That is I can not see the 'Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter' with "IPCONFIG /ALL" DOS command to get the IPv4 address. I can see my GPS machine with name "Window CE USB Sync" on device manager list. I had also tried u918244's solution posted oon Aug 3, 2007 to add a lookback-adaptor, but there is no help.
I know this is Activesync problem or setting problem on PC. Is there anyone out there has any suggestion, solution, or any other software to use instead of Activesync.

I just figure out the default GPS port can be set to COM1 by editing the GPS2BlueA201.xml file. However, I got another problem.
When I press "ON" button without checking "TCP/IP" and "BT", I get the message that "waiting for bluetooth to be enabled" and the byte counter does not increase. There is also no message "GPS Port opened. Processing data...". This indicates GPS2blue does not open the COM1 port and can not read the GPS data from it.
I had tried the "AplSirf" and "SirfTech' program which come with Miopocket to open the COM1: port, both programs can open it and read the GPS data. This demonstrates my GPS machine is OK and the COM1: port is the correct one.
May I have your help to figure out what is wrong ? |

Hi, so I m not sure if I m posting on the right board but I ll give it a shot.
So I have wm6.1 prof on the opera x1 and I tried using the gps2 blue.
When I m trying to configure the Bluetooth settings, I can't really access the com ports option.
So I go:
start
Settings
Connections
Bluetooth
Mode and I set it on the on mode and visible,
Then com ports ands says that after pairing with a device etc etc
On the gps2blue I set com4 gps
Speed 4800 bt checked com1
And says.
Io exception. Bluetooth off?
Waiting for bluetooth to be enabled...
I tried many other combinations but still nth. And I paired the device and still no port available on the Bluetooth settings.
I would appreciate some guidance.

I tried to run GPS2blue v2.0 on my china made GPS machine running Win CE6.0, but I got a strange problem.
When I ran it, the line for selecting GPS comm port and the baud rate was not there so that I can not set the GPS comm port to match my machine. The rest of the window screen was normal. If I maximize the window screen, the baud rate appeared there to change, but GPS comm port selection was still missing.
I had installed Miopocket 4.0 and tried the GPS2blue v1.9 that comes with it, but the same thing happened. The GPSscan utility that comes with Miopocket 4.0 reported that GPS was found at COM1 so that my GPS should be OK.
May I ask your help to fix this problem, or an alternative way to change the default GPS comm port manually - for example, to add the comm port selection in the drop down menu, or with an INI file.

HI, a question please:
Can I use GPS2Blue on my HTC tilt to send GPS info to my Samsung Galaxy, via bluetooth?
I cannot figure out what to do! I can get GPS2Blue to log the GPS data, but anything after that regarding bluetooth let alone the other device is totally confusing me.

GPS2BLue seems to be what I am looking for, to take the Windows GPS and make it available on a TCPIP port, however it does not work on my phone. When running it I get "GPS2Blue doesn't work on SmartPhone or Windows Mobile 6 Standard!". It is a Samsung SGH-i617 (BlackJack II) running Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, SmartPhone. Is there a version available for my phone? |

Thanks for the explanations about the options. And yes it is not concerning my problem.
I have a phone HTC Touch 3G. Other GPS software works fine when exiting (GoogleMap, Tomtom, Oziexplorer). The problem concerns only GPS2blue. But this is not a big issue I just have to remind me to reboot after use.
(in fact I am using the soft while doing kitesurf to analyse my speed with the NMEA doppler data. with your last little modifications, I just push one button and the GPS starts recording, great with gloves or around sand and water.) |

On my PDA (Mio A201), I've just verified that the port is well closed and I've no battery problem... The "Disable powersaving" option is active only when GPS2Blue is running. It avoids the PDA to enter sleep mode. The "Reset ports on wake up" option closes and reopens port when the PDA is powered on (and GPS2Blue is still running). These 2 options are not related with your problem... Strange...

I am wondering of something when using the soft. What happen with the GPS when the soft is closed (by clicking "exit" or killing the process) ? I am not sure that the port is closed and the GPS might be still running. I have to test more, but I think that after using the soft my battery is going low very fast (maybe because GPS still running ?) and also when I launch the soft again, the fix is anormally too quick.

Hello, it works like that if you check "File > Log settings > Automatic logging with On / Off". |

I just test the 2.0 version. The directory is well restored. But for the automatic logging it will be great that it can be automatically launched with \autorun when the option was ticked before and even if no redirection is used.
