Hi All,
I have unlocked my MIO 269+ 
But I need to create a (oneclick) cab file with all the correct file reg setting, etc. Better still some else can create the cab file.
To unlock the 296+ you will need to unlock the MioTransfer.exe replace the mio calculator with a wince explorer.
Must go dinner time.

bro,for me its not working...
my mio is not installed on sd card,or storage card,or flash disk...
when i connect mio to pc via activesync.. i can see in mobile device the folder MioMap.
i-ve deleted the folder, made another one,named miopmap,copied just igo8.exe(renamed miomap.exe) and modified sys with path to storage card where the rest of igo is, then restart the device... and voila.. its working...
but.. after another restart.. my folder miomap dissapear from device...
i copied the folder for 4 times..and same thing..
i-ve deleted the original folder miomap(but saved it to my pc) but i-ve deleted also the map folder(with MRE maps) without mio is unable to run.
can someone please give me some advice? how can i make igo work by clicking navigate from mio`s menu. thanx i advanced |

No you don't have to unlock the mio. Go to the mio web page and download the patch for V3, Note Make shaw you download the correct patch for your screen!!!Dont trust the website by putting your serial no in to identify the right patch I did and I had to send the unit back for repair!!! Go to this page http://ems00852.egain.net/system/web/view/selfservice/controller.jsp
Once the patch is on the Mio put the V3 map onto your SD card. Put all the files in one file IT MUST BE NAMED "MIOMAP" or the Mio wont recognise it, trust me it took ages to realise!!!
Now then does anyone know how to fix runtime errors when trying to run the MioMapV2 disk?????? |

Can someone post a clear and working install procedure
for installing a Miomap V3 software on Mio 268+?
Do I have to unlock? Please post files to downloadfiles also...

New to this forum guys, but want to thank everybody who's posted for their valuable input.
I'm awaiting receipt of a 269+ from Germany (bought on ebay for about €185 inc shipping, not bad I thought). Anyway, like tonypoch, I intend to install TT6 on it as soon as it arrives. I'll follow the instructions here and post my results. Thanks again to all! |

In answer to your Q "theknic" the file I used was 504K custmio.cab. I too tryed to do put the patch on from mio's web site and ended up with the white screen. After i sent it back for repair it lasted 1 day then the softwere was currupt, I spoke to mio with no joy. so i decided to go down the same route as the guy's on here, without this info my system would be in the bin! hi there!
I have a 269+ NEC version. R13 rom and the MioMap V2.0 DVD. I would like to put MioMap v3 on my device.
At first.. i've tryied the method on the developer site.. "www.mio-tech.be", upgrading the rom.
I've entered the serial.. etc..and instead of giving me the right rom.. they gave me a hitachi R6rom and endup with a big and nice white display. I found myself the old R13, re-flash-it, and now i'm back form were i've started.
If i will unlock my device will i be able to use v3 or only if i install the patch?
In this link http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28427&whichpage=1 it says "CUSTOMIZING THE MIO 268/269". The custmio.cab file it's ok for 269+ also? I can see here 2 versions of custmio.cab, 31k and 504k. Which one is the correct one?
Or if someone has the right miomap v3 rom patch for 269+ NEC version, please send it to theknic@gmail.com.

please help. before i unlocked my 268+ my gps would not pick up a signal so i got an external antena but still no joy. after a while my screen on v2 has gone black, when entering the map software, although you can see the map all the icons and folders that opens up are black! Right now i have put tomtom v6 on to it and all software is working great but it sayes 'no gps device!' in addition i tyed to put the v3 fimware update on from the mio web page and after installing it my screen whent all grey, it went back to mio and i got the device back working for one day thats when all the brake down started! Any ideas???? Please help me! |

The second two ways does not require binary hacking.
1. Copy the MioMap DVD to your hard disk so you end up with a folder called MioMap.
2. Rename the custmio.cab to MioMap_english_20.cab
3. Copy the MioMap_english_20.cab to \MioMap\install\cabs_268\ overwrite the original file.
4. Switch on and connect your Mio to your PC via the UBS cable.
5. Run the \MioMap\setup.exe
6. Select English then select Install Mio Map 2.0
7. Select Install now with all selected languages.
8. PRESS CANCEL AS SOON AS YOU SEE ‘REMOVING OLD FILES….’
9. Unplug the Mio and power off/on (using the switch at the back).
10. Once the Mio is back on enter the date/time to continue the initialisation.
11. Once the installation is complete press the reset.
12. After the second installation you will be prompted to install Banana. Press enter (press down the round button on the left side of the Mio).
13. Your should have unlocked your Mio and see the Wince desktop.
i did all that and work but it doesent detect the satelite
in the litle antena it apears a red cross and it says no gps receiver detected check cable conection and gps configuration

hello all,
first this is a great forum
i have workd with a navman ICN520(unlocked) for about one year,with tomtom 6.02,igo2006,ozi for handheld and miomap v.302
7 day's ago i did buy a mitac mio 268 no + version it's one out 2005
after reading all of the forum i have running everything and all of this on a
2 Gb sd-card yes it's a medion and is real fast, it's faster than at the navman icn520 this came the navman has 32 mb in it and the mio 64mb
it's running with tomtom 6.0, miomap 3.2, igo 2006plus,oziexplorer and a little bid of ce software like calc98ce,mp3, pimtoday,imgvuept,pocket paint.
so do like i did, read all of the post in this forum and you will get it work

1 In TT6 you have to put the voice-files in the voices map, not in the TomTom/TomTom map
2 In spgps.ini in the windows directory, change the parameters with notepad into the folowing;

Maybe you have to turn on MioMap for 1 time and let it find the satellites. After that turn on TT6 and you'll have to see them after a while. Adjustment in the gps-section in TT isn't possible as far as I know.
