I have just purchased a new GTM 25 cable for my 265WT. My old cable was stolen when the car was broken into over a year ago. However when I plug in the GTM 25 to the unit I cannot seem to receive traffic information. Also I do not see any option for traffic under tools and settings. Am I correct in assuming a traffic option should appear under settings regardless if I am receiving a traffic signal or not once the unit it plugged into the car power outlet? If this is the case then should I return the cable as faulty even though it powers to unit fine. I have also updated my 265 to the latest firmware.

Depending on the car used, I'm not always using my GPS with a TMC traffic receiver. Most of the time I'm using an car USB power adapter with an USB cord adapter.
I've a 255WT model with a GTM25 and for several months I lost traffic info when using the TMC traffic receiver.
No more traffic icon in the second page of the Settings menu.
And if sometimes it did appear, when selected it showed an advert to connect a TMC traffic receiver, in french: "Veuillez connecter le récepteur d'info-trafic au nüvi".
Yesterday I've got the idea to reset the device using the button of the bottom edge when plugged to the GTM25. And hurrah, the icon came back, and it's subscription menu too. But, remember that for the icon to be present, the TMC traffic adapter has to be detected on boot.

Hope it helps.

Hi Loly,

Have you tried to reset the GTM FM Traffic table in the diagnostic menu?

Hello i have one problem with GTM25.

I add subscription for traffic providers and now write no more free space to add new subscription.
I delite one subscription and try to add new one,but still have the same problem.
But i can add back delited subscription with no problem, but if i try to add some diferent subscription anttena wont let me do it.
Anybody know how to reset antena to erase all subscription?
Becouse if you add 0 at the end you hide subscription and is not delited.
I try all posible solution but no luck,i can add back only subscription that was on anttena but i cant add new subscription after error no mor space to new.

I don't know. For example on mine nuvi 1350T with GTM 26 on the diagnostic page I have on USB ID = 1.64V, I Limit = 1A, Serial Host. But this may differ on other nuvis. I don't know. I don't have problem acquiring TMC and have an icon "Traffic". Hmmm...

@ddabcd277
Just checked USB ID volts = 0.88 and I limit = 500MA is this a problem?
ddabcd277 Posted - 28 mars 2012 : 15:24:25
@ dominoman

Yes. "Generic Serial" - FMI, "Power Cable" - charger, "Serial Host" - 12V charger...What do you have on "Limit USB"? It should be written 1A.
popej Posted - 28 mars 2012 : 15:16:10
"Serial host" means, that cable is identified correctly, but this is a simple check of resistance between USB pins, it won't guarantee that TMC chip is working.
dominoman Posted - 28 mars 2012 : 14:49:50
@ddabcd277 do you mean "Serial host" is normal mode when a TMC cable is attached or it shows this when a standard charging cable is attached?
ddabcd277 Posted - 28 mars 2012 : 11:48:42
Edit: I am sorry "Serial host" is normal mode

I checked mine last night and it is the same as acleite. It shows up as Serial host under disgnostics but no Traffic icon in settings or "FM Table/Status" in Developer Info pages. I bought this off ebay from a seller in Hong Kong. Maybe it is some kind if fake cable?
ddabcd277 Posted - 28 mars 2012 : 08:08:54
Edited....

just for the record ...
I have a GTM-25 here that only works as a power cord.
The GPS does not recognize as TMC. No Traffic icon or "FM Table/Status" (in Developer Info pages)
And in the diagnostics page appears "Serial Host".

Other test - go to diagnostic menu (long press at battery icon), plug in cable and see what type of cable is detected by nuvi. For TMC it should be: USB device Serial Host. You can test this even without plugging the other end to car socket.

Go into the hidden status menus (accessed through the trip computer's speed indicator - hold for 7 seconds) and find the GTM status pages. It may just not have populated the station info yet. If you're in a strong signal area you'll see status 5-run. Otherwise it may simply remain scanning. It could also not be subscribed or could be subscribed to the opposite service (NavTeq or Clear Channel) and you may not be in the coverage area.

Ops. I should read more carefully. If the traffic icon is not appearing surely the problem is in the cable.
