Posted - 31 mai 2012 : 19:38:21 Hello everyone I am loooking at a Garmin 2495LMT. It seems to have almost everything for a GPS at $199. Is it a good buy? Slow map rendering hinders overall performance is this true?? I am also looking at Garmin 2595 Thanks

Posted - 18 oct. 2011 : 23:13:16 I believe set arrival lets you put in when you want to arrive at destination or via then it will give you an estimate on when you should leave. |

Posted - 18 oct. 2011 : 23:06:44 Looking at the screenshot posted for the trip planner posted in the reviews for the 2495 and 2555, they're slightly different. The 2495 shows time between points. I'm guessing they're just at different steps when taking the screenshots, and the planners are the same. True? Also what is the "Set arrival time" under each point? http://gpstracklog.com/2011/10/garmin-nuvi-2495lmt-review.html http://gpstracklog.com/2011/10/garmin-nuvi-2555lt-review.html |

Posted - 15 oct. 2011 : 14:48:37 I posted in another thread that I don't get the new nuvi's. They must be designed by newer people that don't use them or haven't used the older ones. With that said If the 2460 had regular routes like the old SP's or 1490T I'd buy it and try it because I like the idea of being able to put icons on the main menu. This is because the old SP's had rubber push buttons for ease of navigating back to main screen, find, etc. and searching for address's was easy and similar to the 2012's. Duh..Garmin. I'd take a Nuvi it if was a 2720SP with a 5in screen with traffic and junction views with shortcuts on the main screen. With Nuvi's intro they made it harder to navigate and dumbed down the user customizing. Then Nuvi started to come back with "More Data" which I liked and putting shortcuts on the screen was good. But now it's back to square zero with the 2012 lineup. Even worse actually. It took me less then an hour while walking the dog around my dirt roads that the unit was going back. The T isn't perfect but at least it's easy to hit the keys for typing, text is larger, and has real routes not the frustrating trip planner everyone hates..plus other things. And as other's mentioned focusing on things like Audible books,MP3,etc. With IPods, phones who needs that stuff? I think they work deals with Audible and the like and that makes it worse for us. I have so many files on MS I'm afraid of switching brands and loosing this stuff. But I will start looking at other brands seeing Garmin has got way off base with alot of the true core of Road navigateing features we all liked. Basically keep it easy to use while mounted in car, give more control back to user. |

Posted - 15 oct. 2011 : 13:07:19 Good call, I too am sticking with my 1490. TBH none of the newer nuvis seem to do any better than my 1490, not in the way I use it anyway. |

Posted - 14 oct. 2011 : 22:23:02 I got my new 2595LMT and after about an hour or so with it I decided to return it. I'm glad I ordered from Wal Mart as they are so good about returning "Site to Store" items with instant refund. I'm going to stick with the 1490T it'll route and do just about everything near as good as the 2595. I don't like the small print, the smaller keys, and fine the dashboard info dosn't show like the T. I'll be ordering another T as mine is getting tired from lot's of banging around and use. |

The customizable data tabs on the StreetPilot 2600 series were great and no Nuvi has the same functionality. You could choose how many tabs to display and what data to show. But, most importantly, they were "collapsible". When you tapped them, they minimized into a small blue bar to free up screen real estate. This is especially important on these old models since there weren't a lot of pixels on those little screens.

Posted - 11 oct. 2011 : 13:11:54 This is cool about the dash board and what you said. I ordered one from Walmart as they take returns so easily. In case I don't like it. I believe your right in the dash board may be better. With the 1490T say you have the "more data" on the side and still have the other data on the bottom so just a dash boad with all the info on the bottom makes sense. I hope the data boxs can be user changed to what we'd like. i.e. arrival time, distance to destination, etc.r I just can't get away from the More Data feature going back to my 2610 2720. I just like knowing this while driving and not having to do screen touchs of icons to find and do what I need to do. I saw the "icons can be added to the main screen" is there on these units as well. Also choices on the 3 buttons which I'm not familiar with. I hope this one does a better job on supplying navigation features and safety then my previous units. I like the 1490T except without the buttons like on the old street pilots it makes it harder to go to pages I'd like. |

Ya well, the 3490 LMT, while having the custom dashboard option, does not in fact have the "more data" feature. You can actually get and customize all of the same data in the dashboard, but you don't get the data on the right side of the screen anymore. The new 24/25xx series uses the same style interface as well.
So in a nutshell, you basically have the data and can customize it as well, but it's going to appear in pre-configured dashboards you choose from - and not all of the dashboards contain the same number of the available data fields either, the stock default one being one of them. I suspect as I've said before, that eventually, Garmin will add more of these dashboards to the Garmin garage.
For those who haven't seen them (and I don't have my device handy or I would post some pics), Garmin Dashboards bear some resemblance to a vehicle dashboard and reside at the bottom of the screen. Really, it makes no difference to the user as to whether the data resides on the right side of the screen, as in older models, or on the bottom (new 2012 lineup). Bottom line is that you still have all of the data previously available, and in some cases, even more. The Dashboards seem to occupy less screen real estate than the older style "more data" fields...but that could just be my perception. I haven't actually measured the occupied space. |

Posted - 10 oct. 2011 : 13:06:33 The layouts are different; they are now called Dashboards, but yes, it's there, under Settings > Map & Vehicle > Dashboards. |

Posted - 09 oct. 2011 : 04:28:35 I really would like to buy one of the 2595lmt units but only if it has the "more data" and custom icon in the menu like the 2460 has. Can't seem to find any youtube or in depth reviews yet on the unit have you? |

Posted - 07 oct. 2011 : 14:50:49 I don't believe any manuals have ever listed this feature, even though it was there. The 1350 manual certainly doesn't cover it. |

Posted - 07 oct. 2011 : 14:41:56 That's what I thought they meant at first, then I read it again and saw they were saying They don't see it in the manual not that they don't see the manual. |
