Garmin has released a large .jcv file available as a separate download for the 2012.20 map update. It was released for 7x5 series and Zuma 660/665 only. However, I've read several reports where it is working with some other units too, including 1490T.

Enjoy,
Lilla

Many of us need the junction views but we do NOT need the hi-res images they provide. This imo, is a very big mistake Garmin decided to implement. However, without any proof (so far) it seems some of the old JVs have disappeared and my 765T is very slow in pulling it up. In addition, my unit has started experiencing anomolies since installing the huge file. I dunno if it's related or not....just saying.

These are the 'new' photo real junction views, just hope that Garmin continue to provide them for those that want them.

I updated to my 2012.20 in my 885t Sunday but did not get the bigger JCV file. I tried to delete enough files to make enough space but was not successful so I put it on the mini SD card. I flew to Pittsburgh and drove a route I've driven before. I never got a JV before but got three today. They also look different - more like a photograph - than the ones I've seen before in other areas. They seem to load a little slow but look great! I need to load them on my 765t too.

Just put 2012.20 on the 1695 today. It came with the large 700+MB Junction View file. I was under the impression that all 1xxx models were getting the smaller file. I had deleted all files from the 1695 that I didn't require (voices, vehicles, etc.) and had lots of free space. Hopefully Garmin has seen the error of their ways and are now checking the available free space on the unit and providing a larger JV file based on units that have space for it. The installer program did do a lot of checking back and forth between the unit and the website before the download actually started. Guess we won't know for sure until 2012.30 becomes available.

We saw three or four JCV on my 1690 last year in Atlanta. Moved up to the 1695 in the fall and never saw the first JCV with the installed maps.
Updated the 1695 to 2012.20- huge difference! Many more JCV in Atlanta which I sort of expected. Now I seem to have JCV for every exit on the interstate but they only appear where I had routed to buy gas on I-85 and go home off of I-65. Small town/ rural areas, certainly not Atlanta.

As I mentioned, I have the latest update - 2012.20.
alandb Posted - 27 août 2011 : 18:24:47
@gtreal ... What version of CN NA Maps do you have? The large JCV file being discussed in this thread only works with map version 2012.20.

Hmm... I installed the large JCV file on my 775, as per Garmin's instructions got rid of the smaller JCV files (originally installed by the latest map update) and... got zero images. Zilch, nada. No matter what route I simulated, no matter how complex the junction, the junction views are no longer being displayed.
I noticed that the each of the original .jcv files also had a corresponding .sum file - and I tried to generate this for the larger, updated JCV by going into diagnostic mode and retesting (i.e. checksuming) all the files. Everything checked out just fine (no errors), but no .sum file was generated.

...scratching my head....

Now, I have a question I would like to see answered from Garmin:

My A10 has JCV for the the factory installed EU maps.

In April I went to the US, and bought the US Maps. And no JCV

So, WHY I CANNOT HAVE JCV FOR MAPS WHICH WERE NOT FACTORY INSTALLED?

Sorry for the hysterical screaming.

Tank-you, i get back my JCV, but in NT 2012.10 i have lots of line assist on big streets in Montreal and now with NT 2012.20 i lost many line assist. Did some body note that?

I use a nuvi 765t
ELEGEND_YVR Posted - 23 août 2011 : 20:45:42
On the 765T, JV is much slower on my SD card. I just put on my Nuvi drive.

This is the best JCV I ever had on my 765. Do we know if Garmin will continue providing similar JCVs for future map releases or if there is a way to make this JCV to work with next set of maps?

My mistake I put this one in the other way around and get 6 views

Below are my test routes, there are 5-6 JVs on each route with the large (752MB) .JCV, and only 1 each with the small (52MB) .JCV

Two thoughts on that. My aging eyes see no difference in resolution between the very incomplete 52 MB JCV file that came with 2012.20 and the nearly 800 MB file discussed here. Also, while I agree that storage space can be more important than pretty pictures of intersections, as with so many things to do with Garmin GPSes, I'd like it best if we had user-settable choices.
