Posted - 03 mai 2011 : 05:56:55 Hardware: The unit is small, supports 400,000 records, 42 hour run time, A-GPS support, a 5KHz update rate and a 35 second cold start. The form factor is nice and it includes all the cables needed to get started.
Software: Imports NEMA records from the hardware with out issues. Shows recorded maps trips using Google maps. You can set a time period to auto split your trips. Example if the car sits more than 5 minutes it creates a new trip / segment. It lets you tag a trip segment as personal, business and other options. You can split trips and export too many formats.
Pros: Great hardware that works as specified.
Cons: The software has a lot of issues. The function that splits your tips if you stop for 5 minutes does not work. If you drive for 4 days and make 10 stops per day it will show as one big trip and you have to spend 30-60 minutes breaking up the trip. Daylight savings does not work. It only uses standard time zones. You have to go into each segment and update that it is day light savings. This takes a very long time.
Notes: I send QStarz an email describing my issues. They told me the solution is to power down the GPS every time I stop and power it back up when I start and wait for it to lock on the GPS signal. This would take an hour out of my day. With all the flaws with the software you would save a lot of time just writing your millage on a piece of paper.
