I have been looking into the customization of the Goodmans GNAV10 for a while now. I have made some progress but I'm still miles off getting a full PocketPC.

You can see latest developments at http://www.djshiva.net/projectgnav

First of all, I'll explain that the device comes with Destinator OP running as the front app. This is a pain as I connot find where it decides to load this.

I have managed to get some functionality from the device by replacing \ResidentFlash\DSetting.exe (the Destinator settings program) with the gsExplorer.exe file from a customisation CAB file found on this site.

This enables me to execute and browse the device. Unfortunately, there is no Explorer.exe in the Windows folder and therefore I get no taskbar and a lot of programs crash when they try to browse for files.

At the moment I am looking at two possibilities:
1. Get the device reflashed with a different ROM (although I know that this is unlikely)
2. Get some apps to replace functionality of the default OS apps (such as Explorer) to enable me to use more programs (probably equally unlikely but I'll try )

Full details of the device can be found at the URL above. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Steve

you might be able to use the explorer in CustomNAVMAN_Alex.zip

On mine my explorer.exe file is hidden there is a link to it in \Windows\Programs called "Windows Explorer"
Can you get to it via activesync and look?
If you dont have the "Virtual Keyboard" get ShKeyboard.exe (Sorry no link) I have the file if you need it. let me know...
there are lots of programs you should be able to run..
Anyhow I've got mine playing movies and games etc...
Joe

Oh and about the Destinator OP loading that is probably done in the registry. look for a registry editor like "registry workshop" Its probably under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then init.
Good luck... let me know
Joe

Thanks for the tips Joe, I now have an Input Panel which is really handy as I'm sure you know.

Explorer.exe is not present AT ALL on my device. Have tried ActiveSync 'Explore' and GSFinder+ (both with hidden and system files shown) but no luck.

Also, your device seems to be similar but one difference I did notice.

My device reports an ARMv4 processor. Other than that, yes very similar.

Don't know what has happened exatly. Was looking through the registry application I have after installing the Input Panel. All of a sudden I can explore (through File\Open) in any application. Still no explorer.exe though

Well, I tried the ZIP package. All of the apps at least start up, with the exception of pimtoday.exe. The FileManCE.exe loads but is just blank grey where, I presume, the filelist should be.

The find function, however, does work, but does NOT find explorer.exe.

I assume that's what you were meaning lol.

Also, I checked in the registry - I take it the location you are refering to is \HKLM\init
My settings there are as follows:
Launch10 - shell.exe
Launch20 - device.exe
Launch30 - gwes.exe
Launch60 - launch.exe
Launch70 - GpsMc.exe
Launch90 - explorer.exe

As you can see, there is a launch key for Explorer but it doesn't start because it isn't there. I found that launch.exe is the program that links to Dshell.exe. I have changed this key to 'gsexplorer.exe' and it now boots GSFinder+ at startup instead of the DShell.

Thanks for the hint on that one too.

Now, any idea where I can get explorer.exe from another device or a replacement? lol

Sure no problem I did... you should edit out your email from the posts... I'd hate to see you get spammed...
Let me know if the files worked for you...
