Hi Noni,

Thank you for this wonderful software!
I've been a donor for quite some months now and find it very useful.
However, I have two problems:

1. When I select the map "Google-SatRoad" internet map, I don't see the street names in the satelite view. I do see the street names with "V-Earth-SatRoad" internet maps, however. Can this be fixed so "Google-SatRoad" can display street names?

2. Also, I usually go on long hikes (walks) and find my battery doesn't last very long with the GPS running all the time. Is it possible to have Noni GPSPlot disconnect and then reconnect the GPS at intervals. For example, connect the GPS every 10 mins or 2 hours to get a 'fix' and update the Track that is being recorded? I believe this would greatly increase the battery life of my phone.

Thank you for this great software! Keep up the good work!

Ledge.

Thank you for the help. This solved my problem. I've never realized the manual zoom had to be enabled to view the zoom options. And I'm sorry about posting in the France forum.
Thanks again. You're great!

Hi Noni
I think that NoniGPSPlot can be a big help but still I have some problems usig it:
First of all does it exist a guide for dummies? or at least instructions to follow to use the application in a proper way?
I often practise nordic walking in woods an I would like to be able to draw myself a route to follow with internal GPS Toshiba PPC.
I guess that the right way it's to follow this sequence:
1)draw a route on googlemap for instance,
2)create a gpx file,
3) import the gpx on NoniGPSPlot.
Now what should I do next to visualize the route on my phone and to following the route.

thanks for your help

Hi Noni,

Any help regarding Noni GPSPlot? Or is help only for French-speaking people?
Or is Noni GPSPlot an abandoned product?

Hello,
Sorry for this very late response

@mfeske
As far as I know, the Omnia do not have keys (as up, down, etc) so you can only associate add an immediate point to the click on battery level or on reception level in the keys setup window
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/menu.php#M63

On the next version, it will be possible to use soft key.

The satellite view is accessible by clicking on the reception level (at the bottom right of the screen).

It is possible to add icons by adding .bmp (format 22x22, the white color is considered as transparent) in the folder where NoniGPSPlot is installed (usually \Program Files\NoniGPSPlot)

After points can be displayed as icon
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/menu.php#M11

@nstocke
I think the answer is here :
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/tutos.php?tuto=_tuto_6.php#TUTO

@lion1717
Could you please send a screen capture to me ?

For the problem with Google SatRaod, this should be solve with the last version
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/download.php

But you may have to delete your cache:
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/menu.php#M69

2. This is a very specific approach of GPS recording. For now I don’t think to integrate it to NoniGPSPlot.

@linus54
I do my best for documentation. I think you can find lost of info on my web:
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/tutos.php

3) Import the GPX from Navigation menu
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/menu.php#M21

Or setup your route directly with NoniGPSPlot
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/tutos.php?tuto=_tuto_7.php#TUTO

Hello Noni,
first I have to congratulate you to your really wonderful program. I use it without problems for quite a while now, I enjoy particularly the feature for importing Route files (GPX), which btw can be easily created using the tool http://www.gpsies.com/createTrack.do on an external computer.
But now I encounter some difficulties using voice memos. Everything goes well first, the recording, using the memos in an alert. The wav-files are written into the dir my documents\nonigpsrecords. When I quit nonigpsplot they are still there, but when I load any new route they are suddenly gone (funny that one old one is still there, I must have done something then, when experimenting, what I don't remember).
What am I doing wrong? It must be some switch probably which is turned wrong, but I don't find. I am feeling quite stupid.
Please can you help me.
Best wishes Dieter

I use version V2.80e and I am a donor
I use a HTC-Touch

(I have not posted to this forum before...hope this comes out o.k.)
I have recently installed noni gpsplot on a Samsung i8000. It all seems to work except that maps are not displayed. I see the icon indicating that the map is loading to the display, but it does not appear. Points, grid and altitude graph apprear o.k. but the rest of the screen is white. Has anyone else tried to use noni gpsplot on Samsung Omnia i8000 ?

Just responding to my previous message... I think it is fixed, sort of. I tried .bmp maps instead of .jpg, and saw some maps on the screen, but I could not zoom in very far. So, I checked the Advanced Settings --> Display and changed Limit Zoom auto from No to x 1.0, and now it works again, in both .bmp and .jpg format.
By the way I am running Win Mo 6.5.

I have been performing some tests with MapSplit and would like to understand the results.

I have a 2500x5000 pixel map from Google maps saved as PNG and converted to both JPG and BMP24 formats and have been splitting it into 500x500 maps with both versions 0.9 and 1.5 of Mapsplit, using:
MapSplit.exe -s 500 -f abc02.map -c 1 -bmp8 -nd

MapSplit version 0.9 appears to run without any problems, eg.
MapSplit v0.9 beta
Reading abc02.map...
Creating dir 'Split'
Reading 'abc02.bmp'
Image size 2500x5000

Saving Split\abc02_x1y1.map...
Saving Split\abc02_x1y1.bmp (500x500)...
....

MapSplit version 1.5 appears to have problems with the same data, eg.
MapSplit v1.5
Reading abc02.map...
Warning, picture size not defined ***
Creating dir 'Split'
Reading 'abc02.bmp'
Image size 2500x5000

Saving Split\abc02_x1y1.map...
Coorrecting Split\abc02_x1y1.bmp as 1... ***
Non linear correction used (longer)... ***
Saving Split\abc02_x1y1.bmp (500x500)...

Could someone explain the additional warnings issued by Mapsplit v1.5 (indicated *** above) and could these warnings be the reason the resultant 500x500 maps are not as sharp as the original large map nor those produced by v0.9 ?

I was also wondering how Mapsplit determined which file it will split. Is it from the name of the .MAP file or from the GIF, JPG or BMP named therein - or some combination of the two?

Are there input and/or output file sizes and/or formats that are preferred by MapSplit that will produce optimal results?

* Is there any more information available about the use of MapSplit in addition to running it with the -h parameter?

Regarding the syntax of MapSplit:
* The -o parameter unit appears to be pixels. I would suggest it be a number ranging between zero and unity (0-1) and that all map fragments are still created about the same size.

* What is the definition of the number of lines loaded, the max. of which is defined with the -l parameter.

Also is it possible to find out why a correction needs to be applied to Google maps (-c 1): is it to do with the spherical earth model used by Google?

With thanks,

Peter

Hi Noni,

first of all i want to congratulate you for this great application you have build.
I would love to donate for all your efforts but i cant actually use it as i would need it to,
i want to be able to record/save a track from my house to the cottage in the forest and then after i closed the app and opened it again, load that track and set the application to follow the recorded track backwards from the cottage to my house (track-back feature allows you to follow the same route back to your starting point)

I couldn't find a way to do that (track-back) with your application, have i missed something?
Is it possible that you take into account to build such a feature in the next releases?

thank you again for your time and effort
Best Regards
RIP NIX

Hi all I have been using this software for a long time now on my Ipaq rx3715 with a gps blue tooth dongle and its great.

I have the latest version and I now have a SPV m700 with internal GPS on com 9.
I can get noni to find my gps and it does so very well but then I cant stop the cross hair from moving about no matter what i do it moves all over the place and leaves the so called route i have taken all over the screen.

I have looked into the static nav etc but it wont work it

1. freezes my device
2. says it cant find it etc.

Please help what can I do or am I not going to get this to work on this phone.

Looking at your main site this phone is the ame as the htc 3600 i think.

Hi everyone,

Unlocked FS Loox N100 with NoniGPSplot and Ordnance Survey Opendata OS Streetview maps. It works brilliantly.

Individual houses, streams, woods, streetnames, schools, places of worship etc are all shown in detail.

Really accurate geo-referencing. Can even see which side of the street you are driving on.

Comes as sets of 400 5,000m (5km) squares making 100km x 100km as .tifs each with .tab and .tfw.

Only minor hassle with conversions. I've contacted Noni re possibility of streamlining the process.

I can share tips if there's a response.

It looks brilliant on screen.

Running speed and traffic light cameras with audible warning and Navigon satnav in the background OK.

Also tried OS Miniscale of all mainland UK. Only one geo-ref file and where I live in the middle of the country the map was miles out (literally, i.e. about 10 miles or so north of where I really was!)

Is there a separate forum for this, i.e. the OS Opendata downloads?

If not, there should be.

I'm an avid reader but have only posted once or twice before.

Hi there,
I recently updated to v3.0 and with it got the problem that tracks of imported GPX files don't get displayed. The GPX file seems to be loaded correctly, because when I check the track menu Nonigpsplot gives a number of points in the specific track layer.

What am I doing wrong?
