Hi Jal, I'm using Port Splitter on a Toshiba e800 splitting Com4 (a compact flash gps) into ports 5,6 and 7 for three different gps applications. It works flawlessly Thankyou for a great application. Wayne |

Hi Jal. I've a problem. It seems at my Eten G500+ (WM 5) com 4 is the GPS COMport. So I set at Portsplitter inbox at COM4, oubox at 2, 6 and 8. VisualGPS at COM2, Oziexplorer at 8 and Reperion at 6. And it works! However, I closed my PDA for a drink inside. Later I went outside and put the PDa on, open Portsplitter, (inbox 4, outbox 2,6,8) and I open OZI. Nothing!!!!!! open VisualGPS: Nothing!!! Open Reperion: Nothing!!! At Settings "GPS"I had changed Hardware to COM 4. Tried all again: Nothing!!!! I don''t get the picture. Do you?

I'am sorry. The link is known with me. At my device it worked only with one difference: at my device COM4 is the GPS comport instead of COM 9. So I used at Portsplitter COM 4 as the Input and com 2, 6 and 8 I use for Output. I had three progrmas running at the same time. But only for short. After I had closed my device and started all again, it won't work anymore!

It seems I've helped myself. At "GPS" I changed Hardwarport from COM4 to COM9. (yes, just like you said!) Softreset Start Portsplitter, Input COM 4 Baud at 38400. Output COM2, COM6 and COM8 Start OZI and set at configuration COM to 8, Baud at 38400. Now OZI shows me that it is working with the GPS signal and it works!!! Also Visual GPS on COM2 works at the sam time. Also Reperion (at COM6 and Baud at 38400) works at the sam time. I found out that the Baud is also very important. It does not work at an other Baud!
We will see what happens tomorrow! |

Hello,
Only the gps-related baud rate is important.

Hi Jal,
Just installed your brilliant program on my iPaq 6915 with internal GPS. I have easily created two output ports COM0: and COM2: from the input port Internal AGPS NMEA and have e.g. OziExplorer up and running.
Now unfortunately HP and TomTom have made a propriatory version of TomTom Navigator, called GPS Navigation. This version (actually TTN 5.30) does not allow to access the GPS settings, it automatically connects to the Internal AGPS NMEA. Hence I cannot have TTN/GPS Navigation finding and accessing one of the virtual ports... Is there a workaround to this? A registry hack possibly?
Thanks for any suggestions and keep the excellent work up!
Cheers, |

Hello bins,
It seems hard to fix by me because I don't have neither hw6515 nor this tomtom version. Maybe do you have the answer, try to change the registry as tomtom does.

I 'd like to report on my usage of Port Splitter on Fujitsu Siemens T830:
1. Port Splitter is not aware of 240x240 screen size Therefore I cannot see / reach About and Exit buttons.
2. It works very well.
F/S T830 has built-in GPS on Port named GPS COM6: . I choose this as Input and set Baud to 9600. As Output I can choose out of COM0:, COM2:, COM4:, COM9:. I choose and added COM9: and COM4: [I did not experiment with those other ports yet.] Thereafter GPS software like TOMTOM or NoniGPSPlot show those new created com ports and work with them. Up to now I did not experience any problems. I now can use two (and perhaps more, I did not test yet) GPS softwares at the same time. This was not possible even with WM5's GPS tool.
3. The original port COM6: cannot be used by GPS software when Port Splitter is running. Is this supposed to work this way? This introduces a problem: Sometimes I would like to use Port Splitter and sometimes not. Everytime I change I have to reconfigure my GPS softwares
4. There seems to be no way to start Port Splitter after a softreset with automatic configuration (saved settings). Therefore I seems not to make any sense to put it in autostart. I thought of doing so and use it always with my GPS software configured to Port Splitter's new ports. But this seems not to be possible??
Anyway, this is an very nice utility. Many thanks! |

That would be very nice!
Could you please tell me whether its just normal that original COM6: cannot be used any more in GPS software when Port Splitter is using it?

Yes, is normal because I open the gps port as another software more and in this way the port cannot be shared with others apps.
