I have looked at the HP model you have suggested, looks good. Especially bearing in mind the issues that exist with the P550. We assume with it being HP it should be proven. I have always been so impressed with my previous Mio's (168 & A201) this jusr rankles. |

Tewy, I'm getting a refund on the Mio P550 and going to use an old standalone sat nav of my Dad's, but you might be interested in the rx5935 at Dixons - unbelieveable price. See this site to get an even lower price using a voucher. It comes with TomTom 6 Europe pre-installed. I have no affiliation with this site!

| By the way, the power on problem with the P550 is more to do with a Windows Mobile 5.0 problem I believe. I found some posts today from other Windows Mobile users running on different brands of PDA - they all had the same problem with the powering on. There is an Activesync fix (didn't work for me) but some said it does for them. It is called the activesync "fake server" fix or something like that, so have a search on Google. |

Ok it just happened again on my unit. Charged overnight (on a 30% charged battery with no apps left running) and would not power on this morning. Had to soft reset it again.
The other issue I am seeing, that I think may pssibly be related, is that sometimes even when it powers up fine the other 3 hardware buttons as well as the joystick will not work at all. If I power cycle it, they then work. Anyone seen this behaviour too?
Also anyone had a written response from Mio yet? |

Ma701ss,
Thanks for that - looks a good deal. Incidentally, I posted a similar topic on GPSWorld and I was informed of the 'fake' server fix. I did this two nights aga and todate it has been ok, fingers crossed. This simply involves adding a server with random details as detailed below:
Start your P350/P550. Go to Start – Programs – Activesync. Tap on Menu then Add Server Source’ Enter 1, 1, 1, 1 as the server. User a Password b Domain c Next uncheck the boxes End.
Now go back to Menu – Schedule and use the two sliders to select each as Manual OK
Now go to Activesync - Options, where you can delete the Server you’ve just added. It will now keep the Manual settings.
You will still be able to use Activesync in the normal way but you’ll find it no longer auto-starts when it’s left alone, thereby saving some battery power.
I no longer see Active Sync as a running programme, and, as stated to date all appears ok. Worth a try! |

Hi all
Newbie here.
Having looked through this thread for info I've decided to buy a couple of large SD cards for use with my P350. Can anyone tell me if there is any disadvantage in using larger cards (2/4GB) in terms of power consumption? i.e. do the larger cards drain the battery quicker?

I'm using a 2Gb Lexar card, and can't say I've noticed any problems with power consumption vs a 256mb card.
Plus I'm not sure if the P350 supports 4gb card..... |

I use a Sandisk ultra II 2GB SD card on my P550 and have seen no problem regarding the power consumption. I tried also a 4GB SDHC (Daneelec) card and it's not compatible. The SDHC card had an other memory access than the standard SD card so SDHC card IS NOT compatible with standard SD card reader, only SDHC card reader are able to read/write on both SDHC and SD cards. |

hello, I m about to buy either Mio P550 or FS Loox N520
I loved N520 for its design and screen but it doesnt have bluetooth On the other hand we ve got Mio P550 with bluetooth, better processor, bad shape
So the winner will be the one that has better GPS performance... Can you help me?? Which one is better for GPS usage? (quicker satellite lock and mostly strong signal)
Any links with comparatives?
In 2 days i wanna order it and i want to make my final choise... help me not to regret it |

This is my only problem with it, and it is a shame because due to this one problem, the P550 sucks. I can't believe that searching on Google for thios problem doesn't bring up hundreds of similar posts. I can only find one or two, and they are in this thread.

Is the audio connexion a 2.5mm jack or 3.5mm jack ? The manufacturer spec says it is a 3.5mm jack but on the pictures on the 1st topic you say it is a 2.5mm
Anyone has an idea? Cheers ! |
