Lazarus? hmmm..i am afraid i did not catch the joke...BTW, I am based in Asia... http://www.nostos.com/church/Lazarus.htm
It is claimed that Jesus woke Lazarus from the dead. Well you have done one better, in my opinion, you have resurrected your PB400......!!! Strange that the application (Destinator 5.0) was detecting your map before the 5.5 upgrade. |

Sorry for my language but i wrote from Italy. J have a GPS400 with SO PB.01 ( Win CE Net 4.2 Core ) and DESTINATOR ND v 5.5.0.85. J have some problem with Preferred folder because is impossible to have an alert. I called Destinator Support and they suggest me to reinstall software from CD but unfortunately in my Companion CD ( received with Hardware )is not present the folder to reinstall the software. You think is correct to proceed with the upgrade listed In the initial Post ? Or you think is better to upgrade my GPS to TOMTOM 5. Thank for your help. Steve51

Ok Steve I think it would be ok for you to install the upgrade as you can always go back. Have a go you will not reget it

Si
I did wonder how long it'd be before I broke out the hex editor. What is it about this little unit?

If anyone gets it working please let us know.
Thanks
Hi Paul got it working and this is what I did. You have to load the update plus the WINce wakeup files. Then d/load the DG console and install on your pc. From the console install the software to your gps. You will then have 2 Destinator progs on your gps. 1 will be in the root of My Computer and the other will be in MyFlashDisk. navigate to the DEST/prog in MyFlashDisk and remove the "destinator.ini" file. Replace it with the "destinator.ini" file from the prog in My Computer. This can be done on the gps using windows explorer. To start the "DG Destinator" just click on the Destinator icon on the desktop "NOT the G400" thats it. Some enhancements that I have noticed is that it locks on the the sats faster and that reception has improved again (how it does this I give up????) also on the main screen that you can move to Day/Night screen and 2D/3D layout without going through the menu.
If I find out a better way to do this will let everyone know.

Having problems understanding this. I downloaded the software and installed it on my gps, this created the directory MyFlashDisk as you said it would. I tried swapping the .ini files (at least i think it was them)around but nothing worked. Eventually I replaced the Destinator folder in the root directory with the new one (after backing it up!)and the gps at least is running the new destinator software with Day/night and 2D/3D toggle buttoms (although it claims to still be v.5.5.0.85 in the about screen). Problem is that Destinator Console doesn't load the maps- any suggestions?

The problem with the maps is that they are not in the proper dir structure on your card
Dir should be
DestinatorApps/UK_Ireland try this if it does not work load them from the destinator console
best Geordie
ps
you must use capitals as above |

Thanksfor the response Kenwood, unfortunately that's where they are! Have also just realised that v5.5.0.106 (as downloaded from the grundig automotive site above)not find a gps signal. Anyone else had this problem?
v5.5.0.85 is great but I like the 2D/3D and day/night toggle on the front screen. Dave

Hi Diddy If you cant get the console to load the maps then you will have to load them yourself this is quite easy you can use active sync or better if you have a card reader. Just unzip the maps on to your h/d rembering to keep the files within the dir you make try to preserve the proper name (eg UK_Ireland or whatever ) then transfer to your sd card puting them into the DestinitorApps dir. once this is done go to select map on the gps and you will see the maps you have loaded just hi-light to change. That should be it its best to use a card reader as it will be faster. Any probs just ask.
Best Geordie

Hi everybody and thanks for the great forum
Been trying to upgrade to v5.5 but get the message that the EBOOT.nb0 and NK.nb0 files are missing. I have noticed that Vimes rectified this by placing them in the root folder of the SD card. So where can the files be found and , ahem , where exactly should they be placed. Ta very much.
