| This may seem nitpicky, but can we have the default changed, or have the option to specify the folder name if you install on an SD card? "/SD Card/Mapopolis.com Mapopolis" is just a tad bulky. |

This has come up before. You can thank Microsoft for this one. The built-in cab file installer that is part of the Smartphone and Pocket PC OS generates that directory path from our company name (Mapopolis.com) and program name (Mapopolis) as well as providing all the dialogs that let you select install options (except for the initial InstallShield wizard and voice installer on the desktop PC, but some of those components are also provided by Microsoft as part of ActiveSync). The only way to change this is for us to rename either the company or the program. It only has to be renamed in the cab installer information, but unfortunately, that information is shared with several other places right now, making it non-trivial to change ONLY the default installation path. Since Microsoft manages all of the installation parameters, it is also not possible for us to offer a manual way to browse to or type in your prefered install path. So I'm sorry, you'll just have to live with Mapopolis.com Mapopolis for now. All I can say is maybe in the future...

On the Smartphone there is a recently-reported bug related to the message box associated with proximity alerts. The confirmation message asking "Are you sure you want to skip all 7 proximity alerts that are in range?" cannot be closed - neither the yes or no button will work. We are leaning towards removing this confirmation message and assuming you know what you are doing when you press the Skip All button (only on the Smartphone). So we're fishing for opinions. Does anyone have any objection if the Skip All button just does it without first asking "are you sure?"

I would say just do away with the confirmation message. |

Yup, I agree that you should just kill it. Just more buttons to push to get back to the route/map anyway...

Agree, it's not a very destructive action to make, so asking for confirmation is not critical. You could consider that also on the PPC, if you want to.

Same here, if you don't want anymore alerts then use a keypad shortcut for Proximity Alerts On/Off
Works for me

Quick test of .57 and everything works fine.
The panels appear to be the same size as before, but I like them this size

Also did a quick test of v. 4.57. The two bugs I reported (screen hang when GPS changes connection state and screen hang when choosing Ignore All on POI Alerts) are both fixed. Most of the other fixes I can't verify during my short test.
Overall, it does seem like it's release ready on the SmartPhone platform
I did see a posting for the PPC version about dropdown boxes obscuring the on-screen keyboard. Obviously not an issue with the SmartPhone version, as we don't have either dropdown boxes or soft keyboards, but that could possibly necessitate one more build.
At least, let this version cook over the weekend, and see if anything else turns up. But it's looking very very close now...

Yes, there will have to be one more build. If the combobox dropdown size on Pocket PC is the only issue, then we will not have another round of beta testing for the bew build and we will go directly to general release with 4.58.
I'd like to thank you all again for your patience and support through this long beta process. Let's hope there are no new bugs so we can get back to the fun stuff: features!!!

Hi Ris, found a bug (or undesired feature) in the .57 build but not a show stopper.
As I understand you have an E200 to use for testing as well and you probably know that the joystick is not exactly fantastic
When you are viewing the GPS log and scrolling down I accidentally pressed right instead and this takes you to the GPS Options page in settings. You then have to press back, go back to the GPS page then press Menu, Show Log and scroll back down to where you was
Also if you accidentally press left it takes you back to the GPS page, not quite so bad but you still need to scroll down the list again

Nothing serious but.......
Just reinstalled 4.57 onto my iPaq hx2410 and I noticed that when I check the help section it still states version 4.56.

Hi,
Long time follower, first time poster here. The only problem I am still having is the Turn reminder panel. The font is still too large to fit in and the street labels are too small to read. I really really wish it fixed.
Thank you,
Baboo |

Proabaly not the best place to report but as already mentioned elsewhere Mapopolis runs great on the UK Orange C550 and it runs at high res mode
Some of the graphics and icons need to be resized but when I get time I will post screen shots to compare.
Fantastic work, this has to make Mapopolis the first Sat Nav to work at 320x240 resolution

I just got a chance to try out 4.57 today and found that the "Skip All" function in proximity alerts still does not work. The confirmation message is gone, but the program still freezes after pressing "Skip All". The proximity alert goes away, but the map stops updating and the GPS icon never moves until you exit mapopolis (which you can still do from the menu) and restart.
