I have two Magellan GPS models.
One is an (older) Magellan Maestro # 4350, the other is a (new) Magellan RoadMate #5175T-LM.
The (older) Maestro #4350 came with an AC Adapter Wall Charger. This was a good thing as it not only charged the unit, but I could work with addresses and other things while the unit was plugged in thus not draining the battery.
The (newer) RoadMate #5175T-LM (I was surprised upon opening the box) did not come with an AC Adapter Wall Charger. This was a bad thing.
I have a couple of AC Adapter Wall Chargers from two older Magellan Maestro GPS units and I would like to use them with the newer RoadMate #5175T-LM unit.
The electrical rating on the two (older) AC Adapters for the Maestro #4350 are:
Input: 100-240V / 50-60 Hz / 0.18A
Output: 5.0V 1.0A (Different)
The electrical rating on the (newer) AC Adapter for the RoadMate 5175T-LM (which is optional to buy) is:
Input: 100-240V / 50-60 Hz / 0.18A
Output: 5.0V 2.0A (Different)
My question is:
1.) Are my ratings listed above for the two different models correct?
Note: The only difference is the 1.0A and the 2.0A
2.) If so, is it safe to use the AC Adapters from the (older) Maestro #4350 with the (newer) RoadMate #5175T-LM.

For a start, no need to ask the same question twice, I deleted your other identical topic.
Magellan have been working with MiTac for a long time so hardware interoperability should be fine. As long as the connector is the same (but it should be miniUSB) there's no risk in trying. With lower Amps the only problem is that the new model would not be getting enough "juice" so might not operate and charge at the same time. You'll have to give it a try. Note that the reverse would not be a problem as the GPS will simply not draw to the charger's maximum capacity. |
