Been struggling with this for a while -- help appreciated.
I have a Magellan 1470, recently updated to release 4.82. Problem is when running Igo8 via miopocket 4.0 no gps satellites can be found. Have left unit running outside for 30 minutes, but no gps signal found.
Following an earlier thread (http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=131163), I have modified the SYS.TXT with this:
[gps]
port=7
baud=57600
..but no luck. I have downloaded both GPS Scan Debug and GPS Spy CE to ascertain proper port and baud settings, but when I run either one (whether from SD card, which is how I am running Miopocket 4.0, or from HDD), each claims "No GPS found."
I have used "auto detect" in IGO8 numerous times, but it hasn't been able to locate a signal.
I suspect something is running in the background from Magellan and is locking down the GPS, but I don't know how to determine that.
I have renamed the "save" file in igo8 to force it to create a new one, but no luck.
When I run "processes" in miopocket, nothing appears to be running that is related to Magellan. In "Services", I can see the "Orionsvc.dll" but it is shown as "stopped."
(When I remove SD card and let Magellan boot as normal, it finds the satellite within a minute, so I don't think there's a hardware problem).
Advice?

Thanks for the advice EsiTech -- added the quotation marks, but still no GPS found.
Used the GPS Port Scan in Miopocket, and it says "GPS not found!"
Again, I think the GPS chip is being "used" by something when Miopocket starts (again, from SD), but I can't find what's doing it.
Went into MioAutoRun\Programs\TroNik\GPS.ini, and found both "Port" and "Baudrate" set to 0, so I changed those to 7 and 57600, saved file, but then when I ran GPS Scan afterwards, it again reported "GPS not found!", and the MioAutoRun\Programs\TroNik\GPS.ini file had zeroes back in it.

| I'm using Magellan V3.11 FW. I rarely use the Magellan maps and won't tempt fate upgrading. The 7" panel makes a great movie and picture display using miopocket. I think the new FW may have something to do with your problem. |

I don't know how the FW upgrade could be the problem, as when I boot up Miopocket from the SD card, Magellan is bypassed...isn't it?
I think my next step is to try Portsplitter (http://www.gpsmeter.com/index.php?page=portsplitter), although I confess to not being sure how to use it. But it's worth a shot... |

| Well, after many false starts I finally decided to try using Miopocket Mini 4.0 Release 2 instead of the full Miopocket, and it worked like a charm...GPS ports were found immediately (port=7, baud=57600), and satellites were located within a few minutes. Not sure what the problem was with the full Miopocket, but Miopocket Mini seems to have done the trick (although I still cannot get "Cab Install" to install the TomTom Cab...) |

MioPocket 4.0 Full simply stops "Orionsvc" which is the unit's default GPS-module intializer. |
