hello all

i have downgraded a vaio P11Z to xp sp3

the gps chipset is embedded on an option 3g device

i could install the devices drivers and i can see them on the
device manager as :
<network interface> globetrotter MO40x network interface
<Modems> globetrotter MO40x modem interface
<com4> globetrotter MO40x - diagnostics interface
<com5> globetrotter MO40x - GPS data interface
<com6> globetrotter MO40x - GPS control interface
<com7> globetrotter MO40x - application interface
<com8> globetrotter MO40x - application 2 interface

i have writted a small c code to pipe com5 and can get nmea strings
but $GPGGA gives no position, fixed satellite equal 0, only gmt

then i have done a check on others nmea tags
$GPGSV gives 4,3,14,16,063,,17,00,213,,20,24,106,,23,52,056,*7C

where 14 seems to be number of satellite in view

so it seems my gps device can view 14 satellites but it cant attach on any gps satelitte

is there any kind of handshake to code or some other missing stuff

i have initialized the communication with createfile function and i get the output from readfile

i didn't use any baud rate nor parity or control

any help would be welcome

thanks

rog
