My RGN_Tool is here at last. This is not the most inspired name for a GCD/RGN utility, but it does not matter much I guess. Here's the official description:

RGN_Tool - This program is an utility to manipulate Garmin RGN/GCD firmware files. It allows you to:

•Convert GCD firmware files to RGN format;
•Extract and save the individual firmware sections of RGN/GCD files to .bin files;
•Overwrite HWID and SW Version of RGN/GCD;
•Build an RGN file using different .bin files.
•Now, saves to GCD as well!

Note: If using the pre-boot/service mode to flash the RGN firmware, be sure to delete any previous copy of GUPDATE.GCD from your GPS. Not doing so, will put your gps in a constant reboot mode. It can be cured, though.

Please post feedback in this thread.

@turboccc

fw_all.bin can't be extracted. Zero length file is always created.
My environment is windows7 32 bit.)

To all:
I do not get any program errors on my WinXP SP3 machine or Win7 64-bit.

@oni_pooh: yes fw_all.bin has zero length on Win7 when it is in the third section. It takes also abnormally long time to run. I found a typo in the code when saving .bin in the 3rd section. I fixed it.

I posted v0.21 which corrects this. See link in first post.

@Yilmaz: do you still get an error? I d/l your file and I can open it no problem.

@turboccc,
well, I also using Window XP SP3 machine, so weird... I don't get any error on US firmware GCD, even though SgMY firmware GCD for 1460, but get the error only on SgMy 1350 GCD.
I will try on my other PC after work.
Thanks for your hardwork.

Edit: Tried on other machine. OK.

I have some time now. I will investigate this. It seems to fail when there are 3 sections...

Edit:

Ok. I just posted v0.22. It fixes the RGN read/write issue when there are more than 2 sections.

Ok, I tested it also. Works fine.
One thing i noticed, I changed the Taiwan Firmware to SG/MAL.
Even I marked overwrite the values as FW 3.11, the Nuvi showed still FW 2.50 which is the original version of SG/MAL FW 2.50

Edit:
GarminDevice.xml shows 3.11
