@kma - you can't customize the speedcams Garmin sells, another reason (on top of their very "variable" quality) not to use them ;-)quote: Originally posted by hobus
Ive been experimenting with making custom made speed cameras with a cvs-file, my question is: is it posible to make directional sensing cameras? Setting a custom speed with '@50' etc is easy, but I have no clue on direction.
Unfortunately not, Garmin are reserving that feature for their own data that was discussed at length in the "Hacking the .gpi format" topic. I even signed up for "developer kit" only to find out they didn't provide the tools. Well let's not complain too much when you have manufacturers like TomTom who are removing alerts for custom POIs altogether (see TomTom GPS Tip - Enabling POI Alerts on "Dumbed Down" Devices on the portal), the POI-Loader is a pretty good tool ;-)
Say, could you share your "mute" voice, you can put on the server using this method : http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14251 - thanks.
I see many of us are annoyed by that "screen beep", hopefully someone clever will figure out how to turn it off!

Here is the voice-file; without speach but with standard alerts. Right click the link and 'save as' then place it on the nuvi in the /Voice/ Directory. Select 'No Voice' in the language menu when you start the unit.

To bad about the camera directions, but I'll have a look at the thread you mentioned.

Thanks for sharing, will load and test on the road ;-)quote: Originally posted by NanaimoRick

gmap3d.img is 402Mb gmapdem.img is 472Mb gmapprom.img is 1952Mb
So more map and 3D data, but much less DEM (terrain) data, odd! Not sure whether the US version has both US and Euro DEM data or just US data, but European users buying NT USA Maps might be in for a disappointment as they likely won't get any terrain data for the USA. Not sure about 3D data but user reports indicate that JV data is included when you buy maps.
Which leads us to the nuRoute files, could they be in the \GS folder ? I have a 228Mb D2331010B.G2S file in there.
Bottom line is that it's one thing to add new features but it would be nice that the user keeps them when he buys the maps of another continent ;-) |

| I suppose the nuRoutes files could be in the G2S folder but I'm not sure it's learning much since the file on my 3790 (D2329010B.G2S - 141Mb) was created and last modified on April 5/10 almost exactly 3 months before my unit arrived at the door. ;-) |

| To all 3790 users who've used previous Nuvis. What are your opinions on the routes calculated with the new 'nuroutes' technology? Do you notice much difference over older models? For me this is the most important development in this new range. Although I have asked before I feel that there are very few comments in this thread about the routing changes introduced with the 37** series. Now that time has passed perhaps some are developing opinions on the new routing technology? Thank you |

| @Thailandkarl, I have'nt done any long distance routes since obtaining the 3790 but putting in some of the old routes that i have done previously makes it seem to be more accurate to what i would have chosen,eg~_;When leaving my house to go south the old way(Nuvi 765t) would ALWAYS sent me 3miles through the CITY out of my way to get to the nearest motorway junction(BTW tried a Tomtom and it would do excatly the same ),Where as now with the 3790 it will always take me via a back road to a further southern motorway junction saving me 3 mile AND 20 MINUTES of city traffic. This would be route i would always take before having a satnav. |

Hi, does anybody know for what purpose the Micro SD card can be used? I've put one in my 3790t, but have no possibility to access it. Am I missing something?

Looks like it, the card appears as an extra drive when your 3790 is connected to your computer.
As for how to use it, same as on all other nuvis, so take a look at the index for previous detailesd discussions, but the main reason to use it would be to add extra maps. |

You can also store all of your Custom POIs on the MicroSD card.

I don't think nuRoute learns as the statistical data has to be crunched by powerful computers, which means we need to track down the myTrends files ;-) Anyway, another difference in size between the US (141 Mb) and Euro (228 Mb) versions then and not data you will get if you buy the CN NT Maps of another continent. |

| Since the mount for the 37xx is a miniUSB like the old one, does anybody know if plugging the car adapter from a 760 or another older Nuvi will work? I assume the traffic will not be compatible but is it electrical compatible? |

| I picked up a 3790t yesterday and echo most of the user comments in this thread. I think the 37x0 series is a leap ahead over Garmin's previous models and there are an awful lot of things to like about the 3790 but all in all I'm not convinced it's worth USD 450. Asides from the high pricing the unit feels unfinished to me. Not being able to import routes and "ill mannered" trip planner functionality are two such examples requiring more effort from Garmin. I'll take the leap of faith and assume Garmin will add route importing and improve (or at least explain) trip planner functionality and keep the unit but if Garmin doesn't finish -- and polish -- the software it's going to feel an awful lot like an expensive quirky machine. |

| That's pretty much the norm for new devices...there's always an "unfinished" aspect to the unit which later firmware updates usually correct. |
