| I have created and saved a route using S&T 2010,I clicked "Export to GPX file", but received an error message "There was an error saving the GPX file" when I tried to "Save" it. I have not purchased a Garmin GPS yet, Do I need to have a GPS device connected during the Save procedure? |

| Is the error reproducible? Could you describe step-by-step what a user needs to to to reproduce the same error? (The feature works fine for me, and I haven't heard other v.2010 users mentioning this issue. |

My Daddy said "Ignorance remains supreme". I actually did not create the new route, I used routes that were created in S&T 2006 and 2009 and some going back to S&T's beginnings. I had no problem Saving a route to GPX file when I created a new one today in 2010. I received the error message when I used an old route and attempted to save it. During the save process, if I gave it the same name as I had previously, it automatically popped up with the old name, and to my ignorance that file had the .est extension, when I saved it the popup said it was an existing file and did I want to replace it, when I clicked yes I got the error message. Now that I am no longer ignorant I just delete the .est extension, save, and I have a new file with the .gpx extension. I am one of the few who started using S&T when it was a DOS program and have updated to Windows every 2 or 3 years, therefore, many of my routes are from much older versions. Over the years I have tried many route planning programs, none are as user friendly as S&T! Now that I can upload my routes to a Garmin I am in high heaven. I drive a motorhome and after 4 years the rough ride mechanically destroyed the hard drive in my laptop, now I can use the Garmin and not worry. I will keep checking your web site and learn new stuff. Thanks Sorry for the long missive but I am so happy I can't stand it! |

I'm glad you solved it! By the way, SSD drives are getting less expensive, and they are not susceptible to mechanical damage by vibrations like the drive in your old laptop...
Cheers, and see you in the forums. |
