I recently acquired a Compasseo 420 in Switzerland and it came with a generic SD card. It also came with the D6 CD and I installed a new firmware that was downloaded from the PB site as it was performing very poorly.
I followed the instructions on the PB site hoping to see the firmware being read from the SD card but it simply wouldn't. After performing a hard reset, all I get is a white screen ( not the calibration ) with the PB logo saying loading .. and it just stops there even after 30 minutes with or without the SD card. I called the PB Switzerland but I couldn't pass the switchboard as everything was to be communicated in German, a language I do not understand yet. I called PB UK but was given a very cold treatment - with no solution offered except that they cannot support orphaned cases like mine.
So I turn to PSiDOC's site ( useful to some extent ) and to this site hoping to tap into the expertise of members.
What can I do short of throwing the unit away ? I know I need to get the unit to read the SD Card with the firmware, but the button sequence apparently does not invoke reading the SD Card. Please help!
OK. The SD card you used to do the reflash has become corrupt. I suggest you either reformat the card or get a different card and redownload the correct firmware and start again from scratch. It's not bricked the GPS as you still have a bootloader in placed and get the packard Bell splash. Basically the contents of the flash disk are not there. Windows CE is loading. But doesn't have the flash disk bits n bobs to make it do anything useable.
