An update for the European based Garmin nuMaps Lifetime subscribers, spoke to Garmin France yesterday at the Navteq Navivision event and told them European users were "disappointed"...turns out the maps will be available in the next few days!
Also European will get another map update by the end of the year, but it seems at this point that the US will have to wait till January for the next one. While this may sound disappointing, it might not be bad news as I somehow gathered that they were working on reducing the current "two quarter delay" (compared to Navteq) for upcoming releases. |

| Please confirm ...lifetime subscribers to Garmin(navteq maps) in the US will have to wait until January 2010 to get the next update. Wonder what happened to the quaterly updates we paid for . The last update was in late July . |

They said "Up to 4". Doesn't mean EVERY quarter.
They are within their rights to not make a release every quarter.

With the wording being "up to 4" they are still within their rights to release only 3, or even 2, per year. |

| Agreed - and it would be a very good idea to download just a patch/delta to be processed locally, instead of having to download a couple of GB every 3-4 months. Not only would this be easier on the end-user, but it would also save Garmin a huge amount of money in bandwidth costs. |

Yes, so they can actually never release again, and still be within their words.
But this is not what I expected...
I have no doubt that Garmin is laughing their ass off, and that i'm the fool.
It is cute that fanboys, defend Garmin. It is the IT version of the
"Stockholm syndrome".
Im sure of one thing, next purchase will not be anything garmin.

| Personally I have no problem with three updates this year if that's what happens. The last map release was the end of July, so the earliest I would have expected another is the end of this month anyway. I'm just guessing that Garmin may be integrating Navteq Traffic Patterns with the map update. If so, I can wait till January if that's what it takes to get it right. |

| Gatorguy, would Navteq Traffic Patterns be something like TomTom's IQ? That could be worth waiting for if they incorporate the feature into existing models. It would also be worth the wait if they would have more complete coverage for lane assist. |

| No way Garmin would introduce a new feature on the existing models. If they ever implement Traffic Patterns then it will go to their new models. |

Rick. You're right but you must know so some people made decision to buy "nüMaps Lifetime subscription" after reading this Garmin's information:

I felt it is too unrealistic but I expected 2-3 per year so now I'm disappointed user. I'm still talking about CNE version.
My the oldest Navteq Map Reports are dated: Dec 2008. Status (today): "Open". So there is still something to improve in CNE. |
