Hi. This is for all those out there with cydle based nav systems (igo/navngo/cydle are all the same, just branding)...

I am putting the finishing touches on a completely new skin for the 480x272 all in one nav systems with new features, bug fixes, and proper time zone handling. What I need to know is how many of us are out there to see if it is worth posting the skin and fixes here or not. (the skin should work on any IGO 2006SE or cydle based nav system with 480x272 resolution) AND some mio models, too!. If you are not sure what your resolution is, put the brand and model here and we can look it up.
What you all think? I will get screen shots and feature lists up when I can.
Thanks!

I have created a new topic to host the skin and some soon to be added tools / mods for our units. You will now be able to download the newest version (currently 1.04) right from the post.

The new topic: http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=129502

If there is some interest, I can post a tutorial on unlocking (sort of) these units...

By sort of, I mean that you can manipulate what is on the device, put files on it, delete files, just not take them off and put them on the SD card from the device... A one way trip so to speak.

Guess I would have to also tell you what directories and files to NEVER touch (HINT: Leave everything in the app directory alone, especially main.exe (without it no boot and no update!), spimgr.exe, and KRSOSD.exe, and the windows directory).

Here is a screen shot of the skin in day/navigate mode...

When you tap the following, the action is performed:
Speed limit sign: Nearest gas station (or other pois you selected)
top/bottom bar: repeat voice command.
3 fields at top: navigation menu (will be changing)
Direction arrow: Same as it always was.
Some new features, too.
(hopefully the pic comes out, had to take it with phone camera, looks much better on device!)

If you want to try the skin, email me at magicmanskin@yahoo.com and I will email anyone a copy who want to try it. Need a place (free) to post it.

The EV4300N uses 2006SE Revision 2. As far as I know, it does support the speed cams...

have done a LOT of mods such as:
Branded POI icons (see the shell logo on the screen!)
Fixed the timezone bug (where it doesn't recognize the new time changes) and the sync of time.
designed a new skin that fixes a couple of small issues and gives the unit a nice new look. The skin is in beta test right now (version 1.02)...

If you want some of this stuff, please PM me with your e-mail address.
And... So I know what to send, have you gained access to the storage on the unit, or do I need to include a loader to get the stuff into the unit?

I'll PM you with my Email addy. I've been using branded POI's with my MIO c520 and on my Invion unit, but not the 640 as the skin that I used on the other units (running Mio 2006) did not work with Cydle's version. I used Jerry Dabrowski's skin from http://simplyphoto.com/MIO/. Very configurable. Info, and/or ideas on the MIO AIO section of this site.

I would love to try the new look.

As for the time zone issues, the only one that I noticed was that it would always power up as if it was in the wrong time zone (I think pacific TZ) until you entered into the timezone setting area (which would already show the correct Eastern TZ) and reselect it.

I corrected that buy adding a line in the Data.zip that caused it to "re-read" the TZ setting just before entering the main screen. I had the same problem on my Invion unit when I ran Mio 2006 on it.
Were there others?

Yes... The timezone issue that I had is that it did not update to the new dates... Fixed by changing timezones.ini in data.zip AND creating a loader for IGO that turns on the timezone flag in Windows (whick is cleared when you power off unit)...
Some other little changes were to remove all the non-480x272 directories in data.zip to make it faster to load. One bug found had to do with POIs... They forgot to use closing parenthesis in 3 scripts causing the unit to run all 3 as one. Not fatal, just odd.

I just need a way to get these things to you... Standard disclaimers, etc... :) Also, did you know that you can have branded POI icons (USA) like the shell logo? Easy to do, can tell you how, also.

Were there others? I inherited My father-in-law's 99 Seville with a Bose unit, so my bonneville (with the 640) has sat for awhile.

Ya, I still run igo2006 that came with the unit due to that. I do have IGO 2008 (legal) that I run from time to time, and yes, the sound issue is a killer for me. I am currently negotiating with Cydle to get the sources to spimgr.exe and KRSOSD (although I don't hold out a big lotta hope). Offering to give them all the bug fixes source (they are testing the new exe fixes I gave them) and 'assist' them in fixing the other issues.
I MAY be able to hack the KRS stuff, but it is a little wierd. Cydle did a custom compile of IGO 2006 to add their audio routines to it. Still decoding the routines to see where they are sending sound.

In addition to the new data.zip with the new features and look, I also have a new loader that fixes the time zone issues. Would you like to try them?

This would include Eiger Vision, vrvd640G, AVE, Blue, and many other 4.3" in-dash units also. Should work on most IGO2006SE units with 480x272.
